my 90 240 idles reaaaly rough…the engine shakes in the engine bay and when in
nuetral it sometimes seems like the car is going to die…it drives fine and pullls hard
but just idles reaaally rough…i had a another motor in before and blew the head gasket
and allot of gunk got into everything like exhaust and heating core so it still has a
sweet smell coming from the exhaust when its running…i dont know what this problem
could beeee
Spray a can of Carb cleaner in the Intake manifold, it will clean some of the sludge that build on the IAC valve.
does he have an aftermarket FPR? if so whats the base fuel pressure at?
spray carb cleaner in the eccs?
i think it might be from my exhaust…
becuase ther was so much sludge and that
spraying out when it had a blown head gasket
and another thing my coolant goes down realllly fast i have to fill it like
once a week
your coolant goes down!? :o
Are you sure your head gasket isn’t blown on this motor too? Better do a compression test, take off the rad cap and see if any air bubbles come out while the crank is turning over (takes 2 people). If bubbles come out, your head gasket is gone and/or your head is warped.
So do you pull the air pipe thing off of the front of the throttlebody and spray it in there? And if you do, do you spray with the throttle plate open or closed, motor running or not? I am having the same problem…
Theres a few ways you can do it. I use similar stuff called Combustion Chamber Cleaner (avail at Canadian Tire). Take a vacuum hose coming from the throttle body and spray short bursts into the hose. The car will want to die, but it keep it running by opening the throttle a bit by hand every time it tries to stall. Use the entire can. Rev the car until all the smoke is done coming out (there will be LOTS of carbon-smoke pouring out your exhaust). This is also a good way to check for exhaust leaks, as you can see the smoke pouring out of any cracks/leaks in the manifold, turbo, dp, etc.
Change your oil right after, it will be pure filth.
Just a note of caution, when I used this stuff on my high mileage Talon, it actually created an exhaust leak at the exhaust manifold, cleaning out carbon deposits that were acting as seals.
Same thing happened to an old truck I used to have.
But when I use Combustion Chamber Cleaner on aything I spray about 3/4s of the can into it with the engine running, and adjusting the throttle so it stays running. Then I either shut the engine off or stall it out with the cleaner and spray the rest into it. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes then take it out and bag on it till smoke stops pouring out (there will be LOTS)
im pretty sure my head gasket is fine
considering it drives fine…i did a compression
test and it was perfect at stock compresion so thats
why i put it in…the engine is in good shape the oil is perfectly
clear…im gonna try spraying that carbon stuff n see if that works

^^ yeah thats the correct way to use the stuff… sorry I left that out!
I still don’t understand how you’re losing coolant. It has to go somewhere… it either leaks, burns or evaporates from boiling. I can understand if you recently flushed the system and its still burping air.
yea i did recently flush the system…cuz i got a diff rad cuz mine had a hole in it
the guy say to do another flush sometime soon because ther was so much sludge in there
