1990 240sx idle problems, help please!!!

my 240sx was running great until the computer fried, so i fixed that and it ran well for a little while but now it has a bad idle problem and runs really rich, anyone know what it may be?

I had the exact problem when I first bought my car in Sept. I took it to speedworks and they checked it out and it was an exhaust leak. Had a crack someplace there, they hooked me up with one. Works great now!! My engine is the Ka24E.

really?? i know i have an exhause leak at manifold gasket, but i didnt’ think it would cause all this crap, right on, i’ll check it out, thanks

Spark plugs

yea, i just put ngk iridium plugs in it about 500kms ago, are they any good?

Ya we knew it had to be that problem, cause before we changed that I had a full tuneup done, including new plugs and wires, fuel filter, everything else that may cause it!! lol

I’m using the NGK Platinums, no problems so far!!

right on, thanks for the help silvia_180sx__

02 sensor, or check the comp for codes… http://www.240sx.org/faq/index.html Go to the ECM section.

i had my NGK iridams go after 1000 Kms. then i went to denso iridams adn they went after 5000 kms. now i going with some beru copper with 4 electrodes and they are awsome.

check them out

about 7 dollars a peice but well worth it

“IF” I do get another tune up on this engine, I might try those!! But I’m sure hoping that I’m tuning a CA or SR mid spring time!!

Just go with the standard copper electrode NGK’s. It’s a waste of money to upgrade to anything else without any engine mods. Platinum plugs are only good for longevity. Platinum is a shitty conductor, but is durable. Silver is the best conductor, so if you really wanna get that extra jam outa the engine you could get the Bosch Silber’s or Beru ones (Silverstone’s I think?) But I would just save the money and get the good ole copper ones. They work very well in all the older Nissan’s.

Just my 2 cents again.
