1995 Mazda Miata M-edition. 131k miles. Bunch of recent servicing. $5000

For Sale: 1995 Mazda Miata M-edition

131,000 miles

In 1995, out of the 19,590 Miatas sold in the US, 3500 were the M-edition. The M included the following: Leather Nardi shift knob, 15" BBS wheels with high- performance tires, cut pile carpeting, stainless sill plates, air conditioning, CD player and 4 speakers, ABS, exterior badge, Popular Equipment Package (formerly called B package) included:
power steering, leather-wrapped steering wheel, power mirrors, Torsen limited slip differential, cruise control, power windows, power antenna

And as an added bonus, this car had a softtop replacement before I bought it. The previous owner spent up a bit, and this car has a glass rear window!

Recent Maintenance (total retail price of about $2300):

Complete tune-up including: Spark plugs, wires, fuel filter, air filter
Full synthetic oil changes with OEM filters and Motul XClean 8100 5W30
Clutch job: Exedy kit with pressure plate, disc, throwout bearing, pilot bearing. Also replaced slave cylinder and had flywheel resurfaced
Complete timing belt job: timing belt, belt idler, belt tensioner, tensioner spring, water pump, thermostat and valve cover gasket. Also replaced front crank and both front cam seals

Wheels are the factory BBS mesh, however center caps are missing.
Tires are BF Goodrich G-force T/A

Jackson racing 4-2-1 CARB-certified header, into functioning cat, with functioning EGR.

So the good: the car needs nothing, mechanically. And even better good: I bought this car in Virginia about 8 months ago. I’m the second owner. There is no rust, no rot, no corrosion. When I did the clutch last week, I had to pull the exhaust. Every flange bolt and nut had 6 sharp points, and all came off with hand tools. The exhaust manifold heat shield bolts all came out with a ¼” ratchet. This car is an absolute joy to work on, especially if you’re used to the crap we normally deal with. The car needs nothing mechanically right now.

The bad: dent in RF fender, and scratches down the same fender and door. Touched up poorly by previous owner. Missing center caps. Missing M emblem from LF fender. It’s no beauty queen, but it’s not horrible.

Some pictures. If you want to look, I’ve kept it stored in my shop since we took it off the road a few months ago. Feel free to come down and check it out. I’ll also be happy to put it up on a lift.

 GLWS.

Damn, If I had somewhere to store this, I would be all over it.

If you’re serious, I can just keep it in the shop til the weather breaks

No its my current living situation. Im shopping for a house right now and as much I would like to have another car, it won’t happen yet. GLWS tho, it should sell pretty quick.

SOLD

Nice car Jason, glad it sold for you.

Holy crap that was quick.

Anyone on here?

I have an M edition badges in my garage if anyone wants it.

It wasnt quick, re-check the year posted…haha.

I bought it. I dont need the badges, Thanks though!

Well, I grabbed it from where it’s been living on Wednesday, and it was all but sold Thursday evening.

Congrats.
I just noticed Jason mentioning it in another thread.
Fuckin 2012.

Am I the only one that thinks this price was high for a 17 year old miata with 131k on it? I know it sold but I hope it wasn’t for 5 grand unless the M edition means it doesn’t follow pricing standards anymore.

this

Please give me SOME credit. I didn’t pay asking price for a car that was for sale for a year. I paid fair market value for the condition. There’s value in not having to drive to southern states to get a 100% rust free car.

That’s a somewhat fair price for a rust free, 95 M-edition especially that has been kept up with its maintenance and from the south but located locally. People who are hating are just poor and have nothing better to do. Nice pick up

Every exhaust nut had 6 perfect points on it. The manifold heat shield could be removed with a 1/4" ratchet. The car was truly a pleasure to work on. To me, that alone is worth 50% more than a comparable rust-belt car.

For sure, my point exactly. Mods should close this.

This is no lie. The car is immaculate in terms of mechanical condition and rust. This is worth more than anything to me and I am willing to pay for it.

Market on these is getting high.
M and R editions even more so.
So what I am saying is, On this coast, asking 5 OBO (in that shape) is extremely fair.

The more popular these become and the more idiots get a hold of them the higher the price point for a nice stocker goes.
(supply V. demand - kinda a new theory going around)

Think of it like a clean crx. Finding one without AIDS is damn near impossible and if/when you do you pay more for it.

Same rules apply for any car really.

Hence why I’m flying down to the same place I bought the Miata on Friday, and picking up a boring-ass 02 Golf 2.0 5-spd to bring back and resell.
