Haha! You know…I should snap a few pics with the sled chillin behind it:P

Bump:) Rolled 225K this afternoon. Since March ‘07 when I orignally posted this as a 200K event…I’ve really only had to do basic maintenance. All the NYSpeeders hatin’ on the domestics…this one’s for you:eekdance:

http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k21/deener50/225.jpg

my 94 Caprice is at 226k, dosent burn or leak any oil and to my knowledge has never even had a valve cover off of it

Still looks clean as hell, too.

Yeah, domestics have a bad rep from lazy owners when it comes to reliability.
My first beretta has 200k when I got rid of it and my current one is at 175k.

The SHO looks great!

mine had over 150k on it when i sold it.

Brian

grumbles a bit and mumbles the SHO engine was developed by yamahagrumbles and coughs

But it’s completely true as what was mentioned before me, its usually no fault of the car and completely fault of the maintenance, I know people that absolute beat the HELL out of their domestics its a wonder it made it to 20 let alone 120,000 miles.

When you cetch up with my Jetta Let me know…lol

I celebrated 300k by buying Black Leather chairs and door skins.

but that is pretty impressive for a ford… but what on it is origianal? My jetta was all stock including the clutch tillaround 250k still has stock turbo, and ALL the internals are origianal, all but the Alt is original (and thats only becouse the pully on it went)

my v6 3.8 motor went till 250k Good Luck …keep her goin

Yes, Yamaha developed the engine, but there is much more to the car than just the engine to get it this far. My point of the post was that pretty much anything, given proper maintenance, can have a long lifetime. This car is just a daily driver for me…and as impressed as I am that it is still going strong I think I’m more impressed with my Mustang and the pain I’ve put that car through and how well that’s holding up.

300k would be nice…but I’m not sure I want to still be driving a SHO for the next 4 years. I’m only sticking with this car since it’s long paid for and really doesn’t take up much of my time keeping in going down the road.

Most of the car has original parts. Everything internal to the motor is, the only accessory I’ve had to deal with was an alternator and a starter. When I bought the car at 175K is was stock. Soon after I had swapped in a manual transmission (originally an auto), lowering spring with aftermarket struts, and upped the front brakes to 11.6" rotors and calipers from a 96+ Taurus. So a majority of the upgrades I did to the car have been with used stock parts and from new stock replacement parts.

I love that car

ugh its a fucking ford with a yamaha drivetrain of course its going to be reliable :picard:

i have changed the oil in my honda once in over 60k miles. it has 215k on it, do you want me to give you a fucking cookie??

Dude, relax. And read up a bit on what you’re writing about. The drivetrian is not 100% Yamaha…and like I posted previously there’s more to a car than the engine.

But if you want to get into the details of the Yamaha engine, we can. The biggest deal about their involvement was designing a DOHC cylinder head to get the most NA power from the 3.0 Vulcan V6, initially. What they came back with to Ford was a complete engine that delivered the power Ford was looking for. This still used Ford electronics and Ford accesories.

What is an issue with the Yamaha engine is the fact that it requires valve shim adjustments every 60k for the 3.0 manual and every 100k for the 3.2 automatic engine. Also, the 3.2 in my car runs a hydraulic timing belt tensioner, which failed at about 200k on my car. So, if you want to get into it, the main things that I have had to REPLACE under the hood have been YAMAHA related components.

I was just crackin a joke. I understand what you are saying. My girlfriends dad beats the shit out of his escorts and they have made it to over 150,000 miles. shit he barely changes the oil. His idea of washing a car is waiting for a rainy day. He didn’t have the one car inspected or registered for over two years. it only had a couple hundred it needed in repaird after it got imponded and he had to ahve it inspected. He frequently drives to rochester and toronto in it. He laughed at me when I told him how long it takes me to detail my car and how much I spent on products for it. when he never even buys soap for his.

He’s not pulling on you. But, points are valid. Owning anything second, third, eighth hand skews results.

Damn I love SHOs especially yours mike!

By the way, I want my re run this summer on the stangs since you remember what happened to mine last year :smash2:

 I can’t believe how little rust is on your car.

I drive ex-Police cars so…Its not uncommen to see them going over 200K+ without braking a sweat.

Love the SHO’s
