Yea its in great condition, but they werent maintence freaks, if the chains were done i would be all over this but thats alot of $$$$$$ for the 100k service
It’s not a 100K service. In theory with proper oil changes and treated well, the chains never need to be serviced. In reality nearly all the early 4.2L S4’s had some type of timing repair in their life. This one may be an exception.
Its an Upstate NY car, with little service history. Even when there is plenty of it, there are always issues. even at 8K. If you are spending 2500 on a timing job, and other small nickel and dime stuff that breaks off during the repair, and then another 2500 on a clutch 20k miles later, than youre already behind. Throw in some suspension work which the car is undoubtedly going to need in the next 10k miles, and you’ve basically spent enough cash to buy another used car.
Don’t get me wrong. Im not knocking this car. Im actually considering it. But more than likely will stick to an older BMW for my next vehicle. Or maybe even something domestic that’s new.
