2005 Chevrolet Cobalt

because the bottom end will hold 20psi

you can’t even compare the two so why make that statement.

I bet if it was an olds or buick you would be all over it like flies on shit.

when did i buy a sti…god dam bj on my name again sti=gay

I would have to say chevy did a decent job. For the market they are after i think it will do well. As for comparing it against a SRT4 I would say i would Take the Cobolt. I think the neon looks like turds. I like the cobolt’s styling especially the rear end. As for it not beinag as fast…just swap pullies and do an intake and I bet it will rip the same if not harder than the SRT4. all in all it will make for some good competition I think.

it still coulda been tuned more aggressively…205 hp just doesn’t quite cut it.

warrenty!!!

205 stock pulley 12 psi boost

now smaller pulley at 16 -17psi = roughly 240

do better exhaust, downpipe, cpu, intake ,intercooler , racegas maybe 270hp

One of the SRT companies Psi-Fi motorsports is going to make a turbo setup for it I believe. They did it with the Mini and it sounds really awesome. Keep the stock supercharger for low end, and the turbo for top end power.

The SRT makes more than twice the peak boost than the Cobalt. And it’s stock internals can handle in excess of 500 hp. And the powertrain is still covered under warranty. I don’t buy “warranty” as an excuse for not tuning the car better. Stronger internals, more time spent on R&D. Bottomline is Chevy half assed the Cobalt SS.

srt does not make 24psi of boost without race gas or bigger turbo

remember the ss is supercharged and is less easy to turn up the boost.
but the ss has a liquid intercooler which is more efficinent than air to air.

still SRT-4 is the best bang for the buck. More hp, better block, More tq, better price… I mean to all the chevy people its the best four cyl. known to man. Stock to Stock the SRT-4’s gonna walk it… The truth hurts folks. Did I mention I dont like dodge?

to add to that, to me, seeing Domestic fours trying to compete with imports is wow. Almost every domestic four you need a power adder for good numbers. You don’t see honda’s putting turbos on everything they make. I really like that the domestic four scene is trying to make something happen. But untill they get a 200-225hp na four cyl. motor im not impressed.

“let the flaming begin”

oh yeah all the 20k and under honda cars are putting out high numbers with no power adder. Might I mention the civic for starts. There is a big power maker with no turbo stock…

Name me an import car under $25k that runs 14 flat or better in the quarter, I sure don’t see one. The SRT’s HP rating isn’t at the crank, and I bet the Cobalt’s isn’t either.

Here is some honda info for you…

Accord V-6 $24,000 to $26000 = 240 but it doesn;t count because it needs a V6 so its out of the 4 banger class.

Accord LX and EX $20,000 to $24,000 =160

Civic Value thur EX $13,500 to $17,500 = 115 - 127 which is comparable to my BASE 2.2 OHV

SI $20,000 - 160

Those are all without power adders. The CHevy cobalt with the 2.2 Eco and the 2.4 Eco no power adders will put out the comparable numbers as a 4 banger SI or Accord and the CObalt price range is $14,000 all the way up to $22,000 for the SS Supercharged

you might want to delete the above post and start over.

Oh and those are all vehicle from 26000 under 4 banger cars in the same class between the cobalt and honda. and the V-6 accord isn;t even in the same class due to the V-6

:gives:

since you don;t like chevys and you have nothing to add with any weight don;t you think you should stay out of the convo since these topics are now ontopic…

Oh yeah and the “edit” on the post with all the HP and price info was I forgot to add soem of the prices for a better comparison.

:hs:

Im sure the SS will do just fine… ECOTEC motor is a nice motor, and tons of upgrades for it now… could take the Supercharger off and turbo…

No one really knocked the 03 Cobra for using a power adder to reach 390 HP, as opposed to the 405 HP LS-6 and look how respected the Cobra became. So what if the SRT-4 and SS use power adders if they’re running faster in the 1/4 than the competition. Also, with factory forced induction it makes simple tuning for big gains easier and the car that much more respectable.

oh give me a min on this one… this is gonna be good… but just to entertain myself. How much money you going to put in “ANY” DOMESTIC NA four cyl. to get it to run lets say… 13’s
