Ferrari will replace the 575 Maranello with a variant of the 612 Scaglietti, which could retain the Maranello name or go by the new moniker of “Imola.” Either way, the Ferrari 600 will be an exceptionally powerful car, with a 6.0-liter version of the Scaglietti’s V12. This lethal engine is expected to yield as much as 580 to 600 horsepower. This engine will be paired with a clutchless manual transmission. In addition to engine strength, the 600 will also improve its interior room and luggage space over the current Maranello. Designed by Pininfarina, the Ferrari 600 will be built on a shorter version of the Scaglietti’s aluminum spaceframe chassis and also use the 612’s front/midengine layout. The 600 should weigh in close to the Scaglietti at roughly 4,000 pounds. When it debuts in the spring of 2006, the Ferrari 600 will feature an MSRP somewhere in between the F430 and the Scaglietti.

Looks like a Vette

from the angle shot it kinda looks like a viper

x2

rather have a Z06.

I don’t like it. The Scaglietti is hideous too.

now THAT’S a Ferrari.

F430 and 360>*

if someone would rather have a viper or vette over a ferrari, they are fucking retarded. there is no arguing this.

Disclaimer: This isn’t flaming, just an honest opinion of two really nice cars, of which I’d take either one (for different reasons).

Ferrari:

Pros: The most incredible howling exhaust note imaginable, handles well and goes like hell.
Cons: Mechanically finicky, precise shifting required, expensive x10 for everything.

Vette:

Pros: Inexpensive, powerful and deep v8 exhaust note, supercar performance, robust platform, reliable, not a Ferrari.
Cons: Not a Ferrari.

That being said, all the supercars appear to be going toward the same basic design. The days of gaudy/flashy body lines are in remission. The NSX, Viper, Vette, Maserati as well as the Ferrari pictured above all look quite similar to each other. Even Lambos are starting to look like this same basic design and shed the outlandish wing/high body lines.

!!! wtf, how heavy can you make it?

Who the fuck took pictures of my car when I told everyone SPECIFICALLY I didn’t want any pictures of us in public.

yea 4,000 lbs seems a bit heavy to me

to heavy

I think there are some good reasons for them to do that. i know the outlandish wing is gone because they can engineer the cars to produce downforce without a huge wing…and all the crazy scoops/flares are going because they probably make the drag coefficient go up. i think the car that started the ‘conservative’ supercar design is the mclaren F1, and all the others followed suit. it definitely looks good, but i admit it is kinda boring when all the new cars coming out look the same. oh well, there are still a few crazy looking ones, like the Enzo and Saleen S7

the mclaren f1 is one hell of a car.
