its on this months cover of SCC, if u can find a better pic, please post it.
my opinion, the thing looks like a blinged out g35 with dope rims and a dumb spoiler. it goes against everything i’ve come to know about the skyline, and its reputation.
aero parts off the r34 were ground breaking , and to see it come stock from nisssan, was a blessing. all these aftermarket companies were busting their nuts to fabricate a front bumper to fit on a civic/ integra/ prelude and call it a skyline kit. this car offers nothing new in styling, nothing ground breaking in terms of style, and u are gonna see kids with g35’s that may look exactly like the new skyline. or on the flip side, just buy a g35 and swap in the new skyline motor. UNINSPIRING!!!
i am very disappointed, and wish nissan would take some time into restyling the skyline, or just bring back the r34 with some cosmetic changes. I’m sure performance will be exceptioonal, but i do wish nissan would take some time and give it a new, ground breaking design.
this is an older pic, but i personally, liek it bettter than the new one
I think and no way does in compete with any of the past Skylines for pure HOTNESS and Exotic appeal. Its just a rebadged G35 Which isnt such a bad thing, but Nissan shouldnt have made such a drastic change from the R34.
That looks like a bullsh1t cover story. It’s the current G35 with some wings and wheels and whatever. I HIGHLY doubt the next-gen GT-R will look anything like that.
That cover reminds me of some cheap supermarket tabloid.
i heard somewhere that the new GT-R won’t even be based on a current platform. it would look like a beefed up G35, but it would be a different car altogether in fact.
but, as of now, all of this is just pure speculation until any official news from Nissan comes forward. i choose not to believe anything until then, for fear of getting my hopes up or down.
with that said, the G35 coupe is one of the sexiest cars money can buy right now BUT they definitley need to beef it up a good bit to keep it up there with the pure raw visceral appeal of past GT-R’s.
the one on fresh alloy looks better than the one on SCC. LOL, a tabloid cover, nicely said, and i hope u are right!!!
now, motor speculations are the 4.5L V8, or, a twin turbo charged version of the currect VQ35DE(?), motor found in the 350z, or they may wanna drop the displacement down to a 3.0 or a 3.2. the VG30DETT is an excellent motor, that is still being used in the current JGTC circuit Nismo z33, so i think i’d vote for another v6 twin turbo, although a turbo v8 would be hella sexy if tey could balance the car well.
i hope this is all hype and a smoke screen for what is TRULY in the works.
The car in SCC is a drivetrain mule. It is a 2007 GTR chassis and driveline running under a widebody Skyline 350GT body. (Yes look close that big bitch is a lot wider than a stock G35.) The reason they do things like this is so they can sort out the driveline with out showing off the finalized styling (which still isn’t completely final). It’s the same as GM running new 7.0L z06 drivetrains and suspensions in old z06 bodies for testing and setup. Hope this clears things up a bit.
From what I’ve heard (don’t remember the source, could be a mag, could have been a forum or a friend), they are separating the ‘Skyline’ name and the GT-R badge. The Skyline will be based on the G35 platform and be a sport/luxury sedan. The GT-R will be the purebred. At the Detroit Auto Show a few years ago (2-3) they had a GT-R concept car, but it wasn’t called the Skyline GT-R, just GT-R. shrug We’ll see. I agree about the sexiness of the R34 though. Something about that ‘flying brick’ look.
