2009 CTS-V Priced (employee price update)

I’d rather not spend $30k just to say “I’m the benchmark”

Esp. when said benchmark is the benchmark of fanbois everywhere.

I love the imaginary speculation about a cars depreciation that just had its pricing announced…

walter, you’ll always be my benchmark. :mamoru:

I cant wait till i can play on that level.

Yep I would not spend $28K more for the M5 but I also don’t buy brand new cars.

BMW will have 2 more cylinders and 2 turbos and then they will catch up.

lol.

Actually the next gen M5 will have a twin turbo V8 (BMW is ditching the V10 due to EU Emissions regs), opposed to a Supercharged V8. Hey, it only took Caddy 5 years to catch up. Good job!

Well the 2004 CTS-V was 8:19 and the 2005 E60 M5 took a year to beat it at 8:13.
1 model year and the BMW beat it by 6 seconds

Caddy waited 4 model years and beat it by 14 seconds. It didn’t catch up in 4 years, it ran right by.

Do you think BMW will beat it by 6 seconds next year?

And what was the CTS-V built to compete with?

The 1999 BMW e39 m5. (2000 US MY)

I dont have a problem with the CTS-V, like I said, I almost bought one. But come on constantly trying to claim GM superiority over a car they bench mark off of, that is designed a good 5 years apart is a joke in itself.

I didn’t see an answer to my question.

By the way I love BMWs. My dad has had E36, E39, E65 and now a Z4 M roadster and might buy another soon. I love the fit and finish and the road feel.
I just work in a buiding with GM on the top of the tower and have a new respect for some of their better products.

Yes, it will, easily. You sack ride GM more than I ride German cars.

I disagree, I love German cars more than American cars by a wide margin.
I loved my A4, my dad’s 996 C4, BMW’s.

I don’t really like Benz vehicles for the most part, but some of them are decent.

Like I said, I like some of GM’s new product offerings, now that I have to look at them every day.
I bought a Saab when I started here because I wanted the most euro feeling car I could buy and not get keyed in the parking garage.

MPD,
It is that possible?

 stfu YOU DEVIL.

GM sack riding in the house!

Saab hasn’t been “euro” for 10+ years. CTS-V is a good car for an American car. But its lagging behind its competition, as shows in the price point. 20 grand less, 5 years behind. Seems fair.

:fail:

Did I miss the 5 year calculation class? I count 4 years.
The 2005 M5 was euro delivery in January 2005 with the first ones coming to the states later that year. 2009 CTS-V will be delivered before years end.

I will agree it was behind but we are comparing two current models, until BMW has a new car in the showroom this is all we can compare.

BMW was a name built by quality and performance. Has nothing to do with “fanbois” whatever that means. Bmw will always be able to sell there vehicles for more because they are already proven. gm is just catching up. If they could charge what bmw charges dont you think they would?

^In all fairness if they only wanted to sell 988(like BMW) units they could ask more but they would rather put 8000 on the streets.
My 2 cents.

Not saying it’s the case (It very well may be) but when people will buy a car inferior to its competition, at a higher price, because of the brand, those are fanbois.

actually, it seems that it IS the new benchmark :mamoru:

This 80 year old man a house over drives a CTS-V

The Italian fuck on the corner who thinks he’s better than the world has the M5. But he bought all of his sons m3’s. I guess it runs in the family.
