This past weekend I was in Disney to do the Marathon and it was a great time. I will get the BS out of the way and post that my time was 6:07:57 for an average mile time of 14:02. :picard:
My marathon training was fairly unorthodox because at the beginning of it I had severe shin splints that limited my running and compartment syndrome that would make my feet fall asleep after I ran two miles. After three doctors told me not to run the marathon I decided to do it anyways and I did make it.
We arrived Thursday at about 10pm and check into the hotel. Walked the parks all day Friday and Saturday which I’m sure was not the best idea but I didn’t care, I was there for the vacation anyways. Saturday night my friends and family planned a late dinner so I went back to the hotel, ate a big plate of pasta and crashed at about 9:30pm. Here is my timeline for Sunday:
3:00am - Alarm went off and I was out of bed
- Jumped in the shower and got dressed
3:30am - My wife and I headed down to the bus to take it to the starting area
3:45am - Got to the staging area and hung out for a while, did some stretching and started to feel pretty nervous
5:00am - Told to head towards the starting line which was about a mile away and then we were all ushered into our corrals.
5:50am - Race starts with fireworks in the dark
12:00pm - I sprinted across the finishline and wanted to die.
Here are a handful of the 100 pictures I took during the race, most were blurry because I took them as I was running but these are some of the better ones.

Good old Pokeahotass gave me a nice big bear hug, and I know I was smelling good there:
