when I heard yesterday that STL bought out his contract, I thought the same thing. I wouldn’t mind having him back, at a much lower salary than he was making. But I’m sure some other team out there will pay him some ridiculous $ for no good reason other than it’s July 1.
They won’t sign a free agent. They don’t add salary without getting rid of some. THey have to trade someone away.

well, they are opening up salary by not signing back Spacek, Afinigenov, and Moore…along with Peters, Teppo and Ellis…that’s about 10 million free’d up.
but I do agree they won’t sign anyone. And if they do, it won’t be much to talk about.

Might not be as far fetched as you think. St. Louis had to buy out his contract. They’re (partially) paying him for this coming season even though he isn’t playing for them. He still lives in Buffalo (his wife is from here). If Darcy can get him on the cheap, it’s possible. But it won’t happen today. We probably won’t hear a peep out of the Sabres until next week.

I’m just so in love with how the Sabres run their organization like a business, rather than a sports team. As long as they are turning somewhat of a profit, they are fat and happy. I don’t think Golisano realizes how much more money he would make if the team went deep into the playoffs. Regardless, we are content right now with not building a team to go .500, let alone win a title. It’s okay, Pominville and Roy can carry this team. :uhh:

I wouldn’t even want him. Granted he is good, he’ll most likely pull in 6 million. Secondly, he played with Iginla. You can’t epxect him to put up the same numbers he did with anyone on our team.
