***2010 BUFFALO BILLS SEASON THREAD***

I think its a bad choice but what options do we have when no one wants to come here, embarassing

All those years of being a cheap-ass are hard to toss off.

how can anybody judge him? do you think jets fans were happy when they got rex ryan? i bet they are happy now… what about ravens fans when they got harbaugh… i bet they are happy now… and how about minnasota when they got brad childress? well im sure they are happy now. All the people who wanted Mike Shanahan and cower… how do you know they would of come here and won? fuck dont judge a coach based on his past. for all we know he could lead us to the superbowl. im not saying its going to happen but it could. and its pretty sad to listen to people say they are fans blah blah blah when now they are saying oh i give up on the team fuck them im never watching them again… YOU ARE NOT FANS THEN.

Childress was a huge improvement over Tice… also Rex Ryan and the Ravens ‘D’… seriously the Jets were ecstatic… The only one on your list that might be a valid argument is Harbaugh

mehh… i’ve gone to 98% of the games for the last 16 years, and it literally takes a toll when i get my hopes up for at least an entertaining season and every year we seem to be taking steps backwards. what do i have to be a fan for? to go root on a losing team, get hammered, come home hungover and be miserable the next day because our team sucks? if that makes me a “bandwagoner” or not a “true fan,” then so be it. watching a team fail when there is nothing I can do to improve it is just exhausting. how others classify my level of “bills fandom” really has zero effect on how i choose to enjoy them. i do agree that just because this guy’s track record is poopy, it doesn’t necessarily mean he will fail here; and vice versa with cowher etc. but guess what, it certainly raises the probability to failure on this downhill spiral. am i wrong?

with no quarterback, a no name coach, no owens… guess how “good” ticket sales will be next year

Gailey joined the Dolphins after spending the previous two years (1998-99) as the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. Under Gailey, the Cowboys compiled a composite regular season record of 18-14 in his two seasons, qualified for the playoffs both years, and captured the NFC Eastern Division title in 1998. In addition, the Cowboys finished in the top five in the NFL in both fewest turnovers and fewest interceptions in each of Gailey’s two seasons as head coach, including a number one ranking in both categories in 1998.

In Gailey’s first season with the Dolphins, he helped guide a running game which amassed 1,894 yards, the most by a Dolphin team since 1984. Lamar Smith finished tenth in the AFC with 1,139 yards rushing, the second-highest single-season total by a Dolphin, marking just the seventh time (fifth player) that a Miami player reached the 1,000-yard plateau.

In seven of the eight seasons that Gailey was either a coordinator or head coach in the NFL, he had a player attain the 1,000-yard rushing mark each time, including Jerome Bettis of the Steelers and Emmitt Smith of the Cowboys.

Before joining the Cowboys in 1998, Gailey spent the previous four seasons (1994-97) with the Pittsburgh Steelers, including each of the last two as offensive coordinator. His first two years there were spent tutoring the club’s wide receivers. In his four seasons with the Steelers, the team won the AFC Central Division crown each time, appeared in the AFC Championship Game on three occasions and reached the Super Bowl. Pittsburgh finished second in the NFL in rushing offense in 1996, averaging 143.7 yards per game. In Gailey’s final season with the Steelers, he presided over the league’s top-ranked rushing team, averaging 154.9 yards per contest.

The NFL team with which Gailey coached reached postseason play each of his last eight years in the league, and 11 of his 14 seasons overall.

Until Ralph Wilson is 6 feet under the Earth, this is the kind of shit we are going to have to deal with. I don’t like rooting for people to die but I think I’m starting to come around to it.

Ehh, they took what hey could get. They tried to get someone good but nobody wants to deal with the BS.

I wouldn’t say that 2 seasons in a row making the playoffs is really a bad thing.

also,

Right, but that was 10 years ago. The NFL has changed A LOT since then. And last year Kansas City let him go 3 games into the preseason. I had little hope coming into this past season and I have even less going into this upcoming season.

LOL, fired as a head coach, then fired as a college coach, then fired as an offensive coordinator, all for poor performance, then hired as a head coach. What other job could you pull that off?

I was happy to get Childress for sure, Tice was too buddy buddy with the players…hence the Love Boat and Randy Moss going apeshit all over Traffic cops.

The only reason he caught any flak at all was because the offesne we ran his first year was mind numbingly boring and predictable. run left, run left, check down, punt, repeat. but what can you do when you have Brad Johnson in his twighlight at QB. I think we threw all of like 3 deep balls that year and Williamson dropped them all.

Gonna have to agree on the whole death to Ralph Wilson thing, the whole league knows the Bills organization, no offense, as a whole is a joke. Which is why no legitimate coaches are even slightly interested in going there.

And as far as the Gailey thing goes, you really need to give at least 3 years to a new coach in order to establish a good team. unless your Al Davis.

"The Bills have made Chan Gailey their new head coach, ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter reports. "

It’s official.

Buddy Nix is a real piece of work.
