2011-2012 Snowmobile Season

Mine is in the corner torn apart

Nice setup. I think we could nail at least 4 more to the roof.

When are you guys thinking of going? I know it’s obviously hard to pick an exact date.

I know this might not go over well with some but we typically try for super bowl weekend so the traffic levels are lower. On a good season, they’re really good through January, February, and into March…last season not withstanding. I am a little more flexible than most as far as time of week. I like at least three days. In the past we’ve left early on a Saturday, arrived mid-morning, checked in, then rode all day Saturday all day Sunday, leaving Sunday evening and being home by late that night. That’s a weekend schedule. Adding another day or two takes off the pressure and makes it a little more enjoyable. Obviously some people have limited availability to go anything other than a weekend.

I’d be down for a local meet, if we ever get snow… We could always meet at my parents in Colden (three trails intersect on their property)… just an idea

Its my first winter home in a decade so i wouldn’t mind meeting people who ride out here

Their property. We have left from Colden Lakes a couple years ago. Those trails are pretty decent. Some down in Sardinia are nice too. We typically launch from Eden or Hamburg VFW. Plenty of parking.

Super Bowl weekend is fine with me.

fixed

and i’m down for whatever… if it snows. Just picked up the new sled this week

Pics, specs.? No photo’s, it didn’t happen.

I usually leave from the ridge so I can get to colden quickly. However I sold my sled last season and am debating on whether or not I am going to pick up a sled for this season.

I do have my buddies back up f7 sno pro so I won’t be totaly out, but really don’t like riding old school sleds.

I don’t like old school much either. Started with a 2000 SkiDoo formula Z 600, graduated to a 2002 Polaris XCSP 700, and now have the 04 Firecat. Current sled has the best ride hands down. Fox floaters in the front are amazing. I don’t think I’ve ever bottomed out on this sled. Rolled it once, but that was pretty much my fault. My buddy has considered selling his Fusion 700 but not sure if he still is.

I am down to ride in the southtowns whenever. I will be changing jobs here soon, so I will have weekends off and get down at 4:30 in the afternoon.

Old school crew checking in. I’ll be in the back with the rough stuff.

You mean his Fusion hasn’t caught on fire yet? I kiddddddddddd That was just the 900 models. I have heard that any fusion bigger than a 600 is a rattle trap.

Superbowl weekend? Hrrmm that might be a tough one.

I’ve ridden it once or twice. Vibrates the yambag somethin fierce.

So I need to buy a heated shield helmet. I have a snocross now, but I want an other option too. Whats everyone use? Is an HJC not a good buy or are they decent? I obviously don’t feel like spending $500 on a Ski Doo helmet, so whats good theses days?

This is the one I am looking at.

I have something almost identical. HJC never gave me a problem. Heated is the way to go. My cheapo buddy cheaped out on his helmet and he has nothing but problems.

I have a hjc. Works great, only issues I ever had where with freezing rain.

I’ve had various friends buy the “vented” style helmets without electric. Most of the time they work fine but when the shit gets cold, electric never fails.
