2011-2012 Snowmobile Season

Really cold temps coming, lot of snow showers in the forecast but nothing about serious general snowfall yet. Hoping the really cold air brings some lake effect at least. Encouraging that we’re going to get some lows in the low teens almost single digits before snow so it should freeze everything up for what ever snow we get later. If we get snow we shouldn’t have to deal with the huge water holes at least.

my wrist is almost healed (broke it riding moto because of lack of snow) and its starting to snow again, hopefully be able to get out before the end of the month… this weathers a joke

She got smart and bought a real sled instead

ask jays how that worked out for him. he sent me a pm labeled “really pissed right now” asking about his rev because it started acting up 5 minutes into his first ride on it. turns out a couple hundred dollar sensor went bad lol.

all brand bashing aside, theyre all pretty good sleds. i just like my cats. been riding since i was 13. started out on a '79 arctic cat jag 340 and was a fantastic sled that i rode all over town, just stuck with them and theyve been good to me. not once have i ever needed a tow home.

I’m just ball busting…Hell, My first sled was a 1979 John deer that I got when I was 10. Knocks on wood, I have had really good luck with my 800 Rev, but I know that mine was babied by the previous owner. I also, have only put 400 miles on it, but I love it so far.

I had to laugh at 1QIKZ’s comment because my buddy thought he needed a bigger sled than his F8 until he lost it on the last ride and rolled it 4 times. Now he’s scared out of his mind to hit the throttle on it.

nice haha. tell him to go pick up an old z370 til hes comfortable grabbing the throttle again. :stuck_out_tongue: ive never rolled a sled, but i have been thrown off one before.

the group of guys i ride with, were not really “snow cross racers” we tend to just ride at a moderate pace…but whenever we hit a long wide trail or an open field, its wide open. were constantly messing with each other and drag racing each other. all of our sleds are just setup to hook and go lol. every sled has 200+ studs, setup suspension, and custom clutching at a minimum lol

I’ve rolled em once or twice. I equate it to Wile E. Coyote strapping himself into the medieval slingshot and slamming your body to the ground.

sounds like its pretty entertaining riding with you lol

Def lovin’ my TNT, the F8 did have maintenance done and the damn thing still imploded but wasn’t a huge deal as my ex was good with that stuff and it only cost me in parts. I’m not a brand loyal person I choose what fits me best and is going to work best for my needs. The TNT was an awesome price for a brand new left over and research says it shouldn’t have too many issues. My other choice was a AC F1100 4 stroke, would love to ride one at some point just to test it out.

Keep praying for snow guys snowing like crazy by KB right now!!!

picked my sled up from the dealership again…

$13k sled, and it’s spent more time at the dealer than on the mountains.

but, it’s SO worth it…nothing like 163" 2.5" track to put the 800cc power to the ground.

Sold my XCR and bought an Indy 600 off a buddy. Tug hill soon maybe?

Ended up fixing it for $1.29 for a 470 ohm resistor from Radio Shack. I lost the ability to know my muffler was over heating via CEL though. My leg getting hot should be a good enough tip off.

^^still funny though. lol.

anyone going to the shawnee or arcade snow drags this year?

^ Oh yeah, I was loling when the sled I just bought tossed a CEL literally the first time I cracked the throttle wide open, with the lights of the parking lot where the trailer was parked still visible. Oh wait, it wasn’t loling, it was white hot rage.

oh come on man, we have all been there. on our race sled the other year at a 2 day event at snowbash i had just won the final of the isr stock open class and didnt make it to my pits. turns out my brake caliper was stuck open from running the brake pads so thin for less resistance. our sled is programmed to dump tons of fuel in after the run to help cool it down from running so hot on the tune…when it does that with a stuck caliper, it barely moves and wants to die out. people thought i blew it up lol. i ended up having to pull myself out of the final for the 700 and 800 classes since i wasnt able to find new parts there in time, and i wasnt able to get any to race the second day. spent a good 500 bucks that weekend between fuel/registration/parts all for nothing.

^ Yeah I know, and in the end a $1.29 temporary fix until I feel like dropping $200 on that sensor isn’t a huge deal. I fixed the cracked speedometer lens (another common issue I found out) for the cost of a $6 OEM part and about 10 minutes of my time disassembling the console and speedometer and haven’t found anything else wrong with the sled.

My new “sensor”

I’m planning on being at Arcade just to have fun

I probably would have blown the sled up right there. Happy you were able to do a easy cheap fix

I had a few buddies trying to get me to hit up Tug hill next weekend, but I have an exam to study for. I will make it up this year…

The hill kinda sucks on the weekend when it’s the only spot in the state with snow. It’s not the level of douchefest that is a Shred and Regan event, but it’s close.

Your not the first person to tell me that…I would much rather stay here, but obviously can’t right now. I put 400 miles on so far this year. I would say half were really shitty, rough miles.
