You guys are all better than me. I have to drive to mine just to ride it. I have my eye on a 2012 loaded Silverado, so that should solve my problem.
nice trucks but theyre really lacking in the engine department if you get the 5.3…my buddy’s truck has the 5.3, granted its lifted with bigger tires, but it does not like our trailer at all. with 4 sleds in it, the truck is really working to pull. just going from olcott to cherry creek, he went through an entire tank of fuel, one way. with the 04 dodge he had before, same size trailer with 4 sleds going even further from olcott to dunkirk, he could go there and back on one tank of fuel. this trailer is an all aluminum as well, so its really not bad weight wise. if my ram was a 4door we would for sure be taking it instead when we go riding. just a thought if you intend on getting a trailer in the future.
People riding off trail and not respecting land owners are the main reason trails close.
^^^yup. has a far greater impact over loud exhaust.
however i am not a fan of loud exhaust. which is why my aftermarket piped sleds have always had stock silencers.
and my appointment at dynotech had to be rescheduled to thursday morning because he had to many tunes booked for one day and the other dude didnt want to change his. hmpf.
DO IT!!! I love my Silverado
EVERYONE out here has loud exhausts… but they aren’t TOO loud because they are muffled by TURBOS
and, there isn’t houses anywhere near by…
Updates starting to trickle in.
Tri-County Drift Hoppers is open.
Colden is open.
Holland announced they are staying closed, which sucks since their system connects Colden to Tri-County.
Marilla said they’re staying closed, which makes sense since they’re north of where the lake effect has been falling.
Folsom said they will be checking today and making a decision. Tri-County said the lake effect runs out north of 20A which is probably bad news since that splits Folsom’s system. Hoping Folsom will open everything South of 20A, which would allow us to drop at Byrncliff tonight and have some options for loops around the Folsom/Tri-County system.
Boston and Hamburg opened their trails.
Drop and ride at Chestnut Ridge Park or Emery Park.
I’m going to leave from the power line in Boston tonight. I’ve never ridden in that area.
Did you say you left from Sahlen’s in Elma before? I drove around there looking to drop a couple weeks ago and couldn’t figure out where the trail was or how to get to it.
Yeah, there’s no public parking near Sahlen’s Sports Park. Friends with one of the Sahlens and he lets us park at another piece of property they own just up the street. There is a little bar that closed just up the street from where we drop and the trail runs right to it. We just ditch ride the 200’ or so to get to that bar.
Think tonight we’re going to drop at Chestnut Ridge and ride the Boston/Hamburg trails. Never ridden there before so should be interesting (aka, going to be a late night when we get lost).
According to the map I use (Polaris iphone app), I didn’t even see where there was a trail near there. I ended up dropping at the old Motorola plant.
S45, right where it gets close to the 400 at Jamison Rd.
But again, no official parking there unless you know someone or want to risk trespassing.

And Folsom officially staying closed for tonight.
Our trails are still closed as of right now. We are out in the groomers starting to pan some of the new snow in to try to start a base back up. Please do not ride untill the trails are posted open.
planning on going this sunday, possibly cherry creek area
Just got home, had a blast. Left out of Chestnut ridge, dinner at Boston Hotel. Got hopelessly lost trying to open the trail through the woods and finally gave up and followed our tracks out. Has to be a missing trail marker in the woods or something because the markers just all of a sudden stop. Not good when you’re the first sled cutting through 18+" of powder in the Boston hilly woods.
Would like to get out this weekend, Saturday or Sunday. Just waiting on my idiot buddy to get his shit together.
Gonna give it a whirl on Friday. We were thinking of trying to ride to eville Saturday pending trail conditions.
Folsom opened at 8am this morning, but just the southern end of their system since when you go north of 20a the lake effect snow runs out fast. We’ll be dropping at Byrncliff Saturday morning I think.
Pulling the GPS data now to try and figure out where the hell the trail we were trying to open last night was supposed to go.
^^trail you were trying to open???
southern teir has plenty of snow. north of the ridge by lake ontario has 8-10" yet i have a dusting at my house. damn!!
when i find out specifics for this sunday ill post up on here if anyone wants to meet up
Not sure when i’m going to be able to get out. Saturday im laying title in my kitchen, Sunday I’m doing concrete counter tops.
Yeah, as in it was marked and a legit trail but no one had been down it since 15+" of lake effect was dumped on it. So instead of just blinding following someone else’s tracks we had to go through the woods going marker to marker packing down a path. In the Boston Hills in the woods at night in heavy blowing snow this isn’t easy when the trail markers suddenly stop and you’ve never been down the trail before. We followed a couple paths that looked like they could be the trail but kept dead ending. Finally gave up and just back tracked out. Disappointing because we had a nice loop planned to come back into Chestnut Ridge where we started from the opposite side we left.
