Sunday is the day myself and my partner in crime John are aiming for. Skiing tonight and probably Saturday morning/afternoon as well. Snowmobile Sunday morning, hopefully Folsom and Drift Hoppers area, and be home in time for Superbowl festivities.
Where will you drop? I’m hoping to ride out from Kwik Fill Sunday morning.
Depends on what is open.
Top choice: Main in Clarence @ the bike path, but doubt NESS will be open. Even if we get the lake effect predicted tonight/tomorrow they tend to drag ass making the decision to open. And you still have to get through Marilla to go anywhere good and they’re terrible.
2nd choice: Our private lot at my buddy Joe’s near Sahlen’s sports park, but Marilla likes to be the last to open, last to groom.
3rd choice: Emery Park. Colden said on FB there almost ready to open this morning and snow was still falling, but to ride anywhere good from there we’d need Holland to open as well and they posted an update this morning of “still closed”.
4th choice: Byrncliff Resort and Conference Center. Awesome place to ride from, but it’s a haul to trailer to. On Folsom’s system and they and Drift Hoppers are great about opening the minute there is enough snow.
5th choice: Milestone in Caffee. Milestone isn’t open anymore but I guess you can still park and ride from their lot. The farthest trailering spot I use but it puts you on Drift Hopper’s trails and they seem to open first a lot.
Where is the Kwik Fill you’re talking about?
Strykersville. It’s 2 minutes from my sled. I would love to get to colden, but I as well need holland to open.
Last weekend we did Colden, Chestnut Ridge, Hamburg, Boston and I wasn’t very impressed. Lots of technical woods riding that got monotonous after a while. Chestnut Ridge would be fun if it weren’t for their really low speed limits that they actually run radar on (or so I’ve heard). We were just getting to the good open stuff in Cherry Creek when we needed to start heading back toward home.
^^^have you guys thought about heading further south? the cherry creek and south area is usually really nice, not sure how much snow they have but seems like they usually have more that way :dunno:
if trails are open i think i wil head to cherry creek/mayville area sat afternoon or sunday.
Sunday my brother is having a super bowl party, do some frying, get the smoker going, drink some beers. We are just going to ride with my nephews around his property. Get sleds and quads out, do some tubing.
Its absolutely dumping around Arcade right now. Gonna be around 2 feet by the time its over, I think. Milestone might be a good choice.
It’s an option, but that’s even farther towing. I hate it when I end up with more tow vehicle miles than sled miles. Plus I know the Folsom/TriCounty area better and like the hills and open land out there by the windmills.
time wise its about 15 minutes difference from pendleton going to arcade or cherry creek :dunno:
Talk on the Cherry Creek FB group is they may not even open this weekend because of all the water.
What are the chances of riding this weekend on marked trails?
From what I can gather, theres very little chance this weekend.
to much water i heard

Trail Update?
When all the volunteers get out of work I would imagine all grooming routes must be traveled 6 to 8 hrs per route. Trees cut and cleared then bridge inspections ,Mark off the bad spots . So you have 12 hrs per route 8 routes , two people per equals 192 man hours later they might get opened. Unless a bridge got washed away or things might be flooded.
LOTS of flooding everywhere
It’s not an open group, but they add you pretty quick if you ask to join.
The pin point is holland. This the most recent 24 hour snowfall update. Don’t be fooled by the windmill interference, however there is certainly snow there.
I use this to follow the snow and it looks like anywhere from Chaffee down to Leon is good.
Lake band is starting to shift north on the radar right now. Supposed to be up here in northern erie by tonight and tomorrow.
im hoping for springville, colden, southern tier area to be open tonight. gonna go out with a few people perhaps
Springville would be Boston Snowmobile Club of WNY.

arcade looks promising
Fri, Feb 01 (2:35 PM)
Friday afternoon update. SNOW SNOW SNOW still coming down hard in Arcade. We have trail guys out checking trails on sleds, as of now, we should be able to open trails in the morning unless we get some bad reports back in later today from the trail heads. Groomers may not get out until Saturday due to bad visibility right now. If we do open Saturday, be very careful until trails are broke and groomed. I cleaned driveway out at 6:00 this morning and when we had to pick kids up from school being closed early, we pushed snow all the way in!
^ Just need Folsom to open tomorrow too and you could make some very nice loops.
Snow has just started moving into Amherst. NOAA is calling for 6-12 by the time it stops tomorrow night.
02-01-13 Trails open Limited- 14+" of fluffy snow, water hazards- use CAUTION
posted 35 minutes ago by Sardinia Snosurfers
Trails are open but limited. 14 or more inches of fluffy snow have fallen on the trails with more on the way. Since previous rains had removed the base, expect poor base, water hazards, and inconsistent riding conditions. Please use extreme caution and protect the landowners’ properties.
do they mention anything for pendleton? i usually dont check noaa.
i may venture out in the arcade area
^ I think northern Erie is about as far north as the lake effect is supposed to go.
