2011-2012 Snowmobile Season

when i left my house i still had a couple inches at home…i can still ride around on the runways out back :stuck_out_tongue: provided this rain doesnt melt whats left…

but yeah it not looking good. mid-high 30’s for the week.

didnt further south towards cherry creek get some decent snow last weekend?

i figure we may be able to get one more good ride in on the trails, if not it may be a trip to the hill.

theres a couple more flatdrag/hilldrags coming up if you want to get some more use out of your sled this season.

Not sure how much Cherry Creek got but everyone is closed right now. Rain today, then some snow and another warmup doesn’t have me thinking anyone is going to open around here.

Not really interested in drags.

My Bergstrom triple point carbides came in yesterday.

Ive given up. Sled is in the corner, quads apart getting 665 kit with 11.5 pistons, exhaust, cams, cdi, and a wideband for jetting/tuning.

At this point, I hate to say it, but I am ready to tear down my sled and clean it up/add a few things and get back into summer mode with my car and hopefully scoop up an older CB750 project for summer. It was another bad winter for riding, but much better than last year. I just wish that the trails could have setup a bit more. Seemed like every ride was fresh snow on ungroomed trails with no base.

I’m not ready to call it a season yet, but I’m ready to admit any more riding is going to require heading to Tug Hill.

I don’t blame ya. I am saving money for a vacation this fall so tug hill probably won’t happen this year. I don’t NEED to ride that bad. I would much rather put my $$$ towards laying on a beach somewhere with a cold drink in my hand.

Microsoft movie maker. I was shocked how easy it was. It’s probably not up to professional standards, but it got the job done.

It’s not that expensive to go ride for the day. Get up early, be on the road by 6am, unloaded and on the trail by 10am, ride 200ish miles and home late that night. Figure blowing $150ish in tow vehicle gas split between two people and gas/oil for the sleds. We eat at some some pretty sleazy places usually during the day so food expenses are limited.

I think I’m ready to call it a season. I had my fill doing 108 miles last Sunday in some terrible conditions through Marilla and Strykersville. Maybe I’ll make one more trip out, but my focus is transitioning to getting my car done for spring. The 330 miles I did this year is my best since '08-'09 lol.

im ready to throw in the towel
better than last year, but not by much!

Trip to Tug Hill planned for Thursday.

you guys that say the miles you did ride werent even that good, are also the guys that stuck to the southtowns and arcade/boston/etc area. there was some FANTASTIC riding down in chattauqua area this year. those arcade/boston/springville trails dont even come close to the trails further south. plus you didnt bother to come up north when we got hit with over a foot of snow when you guys didnt get much of anything down in the southtowns…the shawnee groomers were out a couple times that weekend and they dont even get out much…trails were pretty good.

im planning on racing a couple more events and i figure we might get one more storm for some decent riding, its only halfway through feburary.

you guys are a bunch of negative nancy pansies.

Not having a truck/trailer really hurts my chances of “chasing” the best trails around WNY.

Not really worth having a sled in WNY without a trailer.

waaaahhhhhhhhhhh.

none of the guys you ride with or a family member has a vehicle you could borrow? huh…guess im just not used to that. i had a few people that would regularly let me use their truck when i needed to before i bought my ram. hell i still have a key to my cousins powerstroke, lol.

when we bought the new trailer i split it 3 ways with good friends…we all have keys to the locks and it cost each of us 3k…we have a brand new top of the line 4 place enclosed trailer to use whenever we need for the cost of an enclosed 2 place…absolutely worth it for me, my sled doesnt get all shitted up like on an open trailer and i can use it for just about anything too not just snowmobiles.

not a bad idea if you have some good reliable friends to split it up with

Who saw me almost flip the Skidoo… That was ridiculous

200+, 2inch homemade studs really hook up i guess haha

I keep my sled 35 minutes away from my house. Do you know how hard it is to borrow a truck, track down a trailer and then drive to pick up my sled and then go where I want to go. I will be buying a truck this year. All in good time my friend.

Lol def the most talked about part of the night at least in the spectator area.

I’d take one of those single place harbor freight tilt trailers over a truck any day. You can tow a single sled on one of those with pretty much any car and you can store the sled on the trailer so it’s ready to go any time.

Considering how many clapped out cheap as fuck Rev 800’s are on craigslist, you should buy half a dozen and leave them all over the WNY area.
