Haha I really, really wish I could man. I love this car and will regret selling it but im 25, have basically no money saved, still living at home working at a dead end job. I have got to get my priorities straight and get my life together and although I love this car, its not going to help me achieve the success I need to achieve.
Well have I got a job for you. Haha. My employer is always hiring
Haha if times were different like 20 years ago id consider joining. But in this day and age theres no way
What did you expect?
They’re not there to give you what you need/want for the car, they need to make money off of it, so of course it would be a lowball to you.
The longer you retain the car, the more you drive it, the more you’ll pay it off, the more you’re asking price will drop.
Have you gotten much REAL interest in it?
From the looks of it, you have two choices:
-Keep it, suck it up, drive it, pay for it.
-Trade it in to a dealer towards a less expensive car.
I know what to expect walking in a dealership, Ive bought cars from ray laks before and I know what they paid for the cars ive bought they literally try to make an unreasonable killing off every single car. I know that they have to make money as well but offering me 5,000 less than fair average trade in value for my 2011 car is a fucking joke any way you look at it. I expected them to be reasonable and offer me around 12-12500 then theyd flip it and sell it for 16000 and still make thousands on it. But I will never be talked down to the way their sales manager talked to me because im young and he thought I knew nothing.
I dont really have a problem to keep driving the car and paying on it while im actively trying to sell it because like you said… the less I owe on it the less my asking price will be. I dont have to sell this car, Id just really like to get rid of the debt and get back in school. But I will not give the car away because im not that desperate. Its an awesome car, its in great shape and it gets 40 mpg it is what it is if I have to hold out for the right buyer. I just know that when I bought it a ton of people on here went nuts and said if i ever sold it to let them know, so im willing to be reasonable with people and give someone else on here a chance at owing an awesome car a significant amount less than book value.
$3-$5k seems about going rate for a dealership to make off a trade in, but again, they’re there to make money not help you out. They’re there to make you an offer, take the car off your hands and save you time from selling it yourself, that’s it, they owe you nothing.
Maybe they know they can’t sell it for $16k either, it’s 2 seater hybrid, making it a limited market car too.
If you were not desperate, you would not bump it ever 2-3 days.
That’s ppl on a car forum talking about buying it, which we all know how that goes, means nothing!
Best of luck, you’re welcome for another bump.
The benefit of selling it to a dealer is simple…cash $ today.
Have you thought about trading it in on something cheaper and getting the difference back?
They are like pawn shops of the auto world.
That’s exactly my point.
They are not there for you, they are there for themselves.
Dude everyonee bumps their shit on here every few days I dont get why you act like im the only one hahaha. Id like to sell the car sooner than later because I have one id like to get lined up but selling this to a dealer wont help me with that. It will leave me in the negative. That is why I bump this to the top. If I was desperate, id sell it to the dealer and take a $6000 hit on the car, which im not going to do. I fully understand how dealerships work, Ive had dealerships give me exactly the amount for fair trade in on cars before and then ive had some like scumbag ray laks offer me 6k less than fair trade in.
If it sells it sells, if not Ill keep on driving it and enjoying it while im trying to sell it. Ive tried finding a cheaper car at the local dealers but none of them have anything manual, and in my price range.
But thanks for the bumps and constructive criticism , but lets get back on track of what this thread was created for, selling the car.
bump, title came in yesterday so it can be sold any time now.
This was only like 13 at pat Leary right?
14,900 is what I paid for it in december.
Bump price is somewhat negotiable.
bump new nyspeed price $13,500. Not going lower than that. Either that or hand me $2500 cash and you can take over the payments of $207 a month I owe $11,400 on it. This is a hell of a car for that price and you wont find another that cheap. Just got 41 mpg out to my grandparents house earlier today.
also added a pic of me on the way out to sunset going 70 mph getting 41 mpg all day long for any of the doubters.
bump for a fresh detail with marine insulator wax on sunday, ill give someone a $100 finders fee for sending a buyer my way. Id really like to sell this car soon.
show me that 41mpg after 500 miles and not 22 and I will buy that car from you. I know what they really get… more like 36-37 on the highway, not spectacular
put it on autotrader…
he could show you 45mpg and you probably still couldn’t buy it…
wouldn’t is more correct. Nice slammin trying to predict the income of someone you obviously do not know. I am just pointing out a misrepresentation. Now hop along little bunny.
