2011 - psphinx81's quest for 9's!

figure id start a build thread here to share everything with everyone on whats going on with my car this winter, lots of changes are being made… the car this year on the STOCK motor and head went 10.70 @ 135 on a shitty 1.75 60’. i have a bunch of parts sitting here already, most of which are the whole top end of my motor already.

anyhow, here is the plan for this winter:

Buschur spec 2.0 long rod motor, 10:1 compression
Buschur stage 3 head w/ BF 272 cams
Buschur fabricated intake manifold OR driven innovations intake manifold (depends on what the testing shows)
Buschur dual stage boost controller
FIC 2150cc inectors
E85 (ordering some, not using the shit that is up here)
a bunch of small other odds and ends
ATLEAST 40 psi of boost… target is 42-44

my options were kind of limited on motor specs, and i really DIDNT want to run a hardblocked motor in my car… i talk to dave buschur a lot and have become quite good friends with him, he said he was going try something new recently, which was the long rod motor. i still have a lot of work ahead of me, but the motor is ready to basically come out, i will be pulling it next weekend. i should be taking it down to ohio to get built in december sometime…

here are some pics of the parts, and how the car sits right now after today.

the whole wiring harness is off the car just chilling there, i just need to pull my axles and my t-case off my tranny and out she comes…

good hustle!!

DAMN. You are not messing around.

i think its funny how much power it actually takes to go from 10’s to 9’s (i dont mean 1.0 to 999, i mean like running mid to high tens to mid to low 9s. its a VAST margin.

getting it done in a timely fashion is always cool.

600hp in these is only good for a 10.7? How much do these things weigh?

The car made 515, lots of variables come into play. If the 60’ was their I could tell the car would’ve gone a very low 10. A 1.75 60’ is not impressive by any means when I was cutting consistent 1.5x, but the track wasn’t there that night. Chance you take I guess going late in the season to a test and tune, I wasn’t the only one that night having troubles hooking up

Gotchya, I thought u said somewhere you were at 600hp. Understandable. It’s certainly gonna be a beast! Good luck with everything, gonna be a fun build to watch.

Yeah good luck, this should be a interesting build!

Should be a great build. I have a few questions for you I am going to send over PM, so don’t miss that

I am confident the car was making more power later in the season. 600, no. 550, maybe.

Nice Paul

more progress yesterday, i got amibitous and pulled the motor. huge thanks to ken and chris for the help!

no holes! cya later stock motor! now i have a massive engine bay cleanup to take on :ham:

Awesome… what a hustle pulling that motor out!

Evos are awesome. 10.7 on a stock motor is very impressive, IMO.

9.7 and 145 mph are the current stock block mph and et’s. It’s a VERY tough motor.

i like the plans for this except for one part. wheres the part of the list of making it hook better? even at 1.5 60fts that can be improved i think. cant these cars get down in the 1.3’s? i figure rwd can so why not awd. hell our race sled that we run in the grass dosent even have chisels and we cut 1.4’s…thats a stock motor f7 with a regular trail track and studs. different application but similar principles.

sure you can, if you run full out slicks on the car and convert the car to small brakes, throw some 15in wheels on it and all that other BS. quite a few guys run motorcycle slicks on their stock wheels, however im not a fan of that and wouldnt feel very safe. im running 17in hoosier drag radials. maybe this summer ill pick up some rx7 wheels w/ spacers and run some QTP’s…

Do it live!

just changing tires can drop the 60ft that much? no shit, thats not bad at all. no thanks on running a bike slick haha

anywho, def keeping track of this thread. very cool car.
