So had the camera rolling when this little bit of fun happened. (A fun cruise in the beginning, following a crash with a snowboard hitting a ski blader, Helmet cam rips off.) Enjoy, slow motion at the end.

only been out three times, and last night I started going down the real hills rather than bunny hills…of course around the 5th or 6th time, as I was getting off the lift I missed the pad with my right foot to skate down…face planted and broke one of the straps on my left binding…had to rig the safety lashing to hold my ankle in to ride down…SUPER sketchy…not sure I’ll be able to find a replacement strap, seems these are some old K2 “plasma” bindings…

kinda pissed, wanted to get out a few more times…but really don’t want to drop the coin to replace the bindings altogether…

anyone got some spare straps that would work maybe? LOL

You should be able to find some straps that will work. They’re fairly universal.

Honest. I’d looked for a new pair of 2 year old bindings, you’ll probably find a killer deal on them and be happy. Just dont think spending the money on those bindings if you need to is worth it. Hell, you might even find a used great pair with toe caps for only $40-50. My buddy just got Burton bindings for $30 from a pawn shop.

suggestions on where I might locate some, besides CL?

Ummmm… CL

But seriously let me see what I can do.

So the bunny hill at KB kicked my ass worse than KT22 a few weeks ago. lol
Dragging my daughter back and forth and picking her up has taken its toll on me. I used muscles I didn’t know I had. Now I know why people have kids when they are 20 not 40.
Could they make the ski rental and hot cocoa any further from the bunny hill at North? lol
She said it was very fun at the end of the night so, it was worth it.

Fu Nick, I would’ve gone out!

About to be fully packed. I leave tomorrow for Utah. Heard they got about 19" over the weekend around the Brighton/snowbird area. All electronics to document this trip are ready!!!

Checko is an awesome dude, and dug out an old pair of RIDE bindings he had kicking around that were missing a few pieces so I could combine parts with my K2’s to make up a complete set of bindings to get me through the rest of the season hopefully. I’m probably hitting KB with my g/f again tonight…

Sat, I have the day reserved to meet up and go hit Brighton!

I went out yesterday, 7" overnight, 19" storm total… Was the 2nd chair on 2 different lifts… fucking epic first runs of the day; most heavenly conditions I’ve ever rode. Nothing like carving through virgin or almost (one ski-patrol person before me) virgin deep powder with no worries in the world.

Life-Flight showed up about 90 mins into my riding though, someone had a BAD issue on the slopes somewhere.

Took a couple NASTY spills though. One ass-over-teakettle took me out for about 15 mins on the slopes. My Neck is KILLING me today from it.

Also got “stuck” in a bad spot for me. Ended up on a Double-Black run out here, took a wrong turn off a traverse and got onto the wrong trail. Took me about 30+ mins to traverse across and work my way down slowly. Was WAY above my skill level… was about a 75°+ slope, almost cliff face down a few hundred feet.

My gear was drenched in sweat those first few times when I was teaching my daughter. So much more work teaching a kid to ski than just skiing. It’s worth it though because now we’re actually starting to ski together.

She think’s she’s a pro now because she’s done a “jump”. lol

Well, met up with Yamba6 on Sat for the morning. Hopefully I didn’t slow him and his buddy down too much at the resort; or piss his buddy off too much with my “buffalo”/“rust-belt” swearing like a sailor personality.

Was good to see someone from WNY again, don’t get back often enough and work people are well, work people.

Overall was a good day, warm day for sure, warmest day I think I’ve ever ridden. Was fast and icy to start, turned into fast and wet as the day went on. Saw the rescue teams doing Helicopter work (Kevin got some awesome shots of the choppers maneuvering through the mountains and practicing.) I lost the guys at lunch, I went in for a drink/food and they brought/ate somewhere else. Never could meet up after lunch.

I was out in UT all of last week, having lots of fresh snow to ski on 4 out 5 days sure does not suck. Last tuesday at Alta was for sure the best snow I have ever skied. Face shots are fun.

Yeah, sucks we couldnt meet up. Everytime we tried to get in contact, something would cause us not to get to the right spots. anyways, we will have to do this again. I’ll post photos on failbucket soon and get them on here to show all.

Yeah, snowbird had about 9" of powder Wednesday for my first day out west, had a blast!!! Loved every second about this trip. Only stayed about 15 min from the resort at Snowbird. Right at the mouth of that canyon. Unreal waking up and seeing that view.

It was 4 years ago today we lost the great Shane McConkey. :frowning:
