Those totals kind of leave the door wide open though…I was up at 4 this morning and the snow was done already. They had the warning going until 4 pm today and cancelled it at 8 AM. Just seems that they throw a bunch of shit at the wall and see what sticks…literally. Welcome to the world of weatherman.
I guess I just don’t get all the weatherman hate. They said 4-8", every official report in that area is reporting 4-8" of snow.
When they say 4-8" of snow between Tuesday at 5pm (when the snow really did start BTW) and Wednesday night and we get exactly that I don’t under people bitching about how wrong they were.
And I’m sorry, if your industry did that well maybe I wouldn’t have had all the problems I’ve had with Travelers in the last few months.
The warning for Buffalo at least was canceled at 5am. Apparently they originally thought there was going to be a second wave of snow for the WNY region but it shifted to the east of Rochester. The totals they predicted were actually pretty accurate to what actually fell.
This. The weathermen did their job properly, and the towns prepared by getting the plowing and salting done in good time so the roads were fine. How is any of that a bad thing?
I was only disappointed that they had all the roads and even the lot at work plowed by 7am when I drove in. Had to go do a couple drifts at the office next door who must have a shittier plow service than us.
One channel Monday was saying up to 14", can’t remember which. In their defense, Buffalo has got to be the hardest place to forecast with all of the great lakes to west… and north.
Louie the wiener dog got stuck this morning in the backyard. Max the Pomeranian loved it even though it was terrified of the snow at first (puppy’s first winter)
This. Woke up and found about 7" of heavy, wet snow. The old Ahrens war pig didn’t wanna wake up at 6AM initially, needed some carb cleaner in the plug hole, then started with a bang that sounded more “12 gauge” than “four stroke.” Drive in was fun, roads essentially empty.
I had a 1990 Ariens for the last 7 years and it was awesome. Always started after sitting for the year and only replaced the recoil 2 years ago.
I picked up a 2000 Cub Cadet Hydrostatic Tractor with a 40" snow blower unit, 50" mower deck and leaf collector this year (Pin-striping Included) and let the Ariens go. Hope I have good luck this year with it.
