Can’t go wrong with them. Steve Mathewson does excellent shock work. He did mine this year.
My sled is kept at my parents house they live on Ransom by Simme so I take the power lines over to Townline and ride through there
Get ahold of me. I don’t get out much so when I do, it’s not to head out to a bar.
Ok so based on my extensive research, ‘ditch banging’ is really just riding around, often off trail?
LOL, somewhat yes…riding off the groomed trails, jumping the road approaches/culverts/ravines/etc. Basically riding hard, real hard.
It’s fun but tiresome on the body and sled after a while…
Like that, (no, thats not me)
I’d much rather do that rather than 5 miles of the power lines that feel like a red bull straight rythem session
Reason # 4,568 not to go “ditch banging” off the trail.
Or I could just stay on property I know and have permission to ride on to play around on like my farm and neighbors farm. I wouldn’t go out to eden and ramp peoples driveways. That’s what a super moto is for.
Steve @ Motovate is great. He did mine with a turnaround time that was faster than first quoted. He lives in Batavia, you might be able to drop your stuff off at his place there? Give them a call, he’s a great knowledge base.
I missed a few days while I waited for a replacement secondary. It showed up yesterday and I headed out tonight and clicked off 130 miles around Wayne / Ontario county. During my downtime I installed some 7.5" shapers. I was having some problems with plowing / pushing. They’re gone now, the skis bite much better.
internal piston seal could be leaking allowing nitrogen to mix with the oil. can eventually result in a shock that will not compress at all or in a shock that has no rebound. take it out compress by hand see what happens. hear lots of bubble sounds, then the nitrogen is leaking.
Put almost 100 miles on it Wednesday with no issues. With my schedule and the warmup next week I figure I have 1 maybe 2 rides left this season so I’m just going to ride and and pull all the shocks for a rebuild during the off season.
How did the shocks feel? I blew one a couple years ago and it sucked. You could tell right away.
It felt pretty good. Only bumps were hit were NESS from the thruway to Marilla though. Rest of the night it was like glass.
Going out Saturday afternoon meeting at kens around 2:30 and going to letchworth Sunday morning at 8 if anyone is interested
I think we’re heading towards letchworth from Rochester tomorrow.
I missed a few weeks in February but ramped up for a strong finish to the season. 1600 miles and counting.
I have about 400
Picked out my sled for next year. 3 way adjustable shocks for the front and skid. No more adjusting with the pump.
leaving from kens around 6 30 tonight if anyone wants to join. look for the big white powerstroke and tag along
I picked up my 1st sled 2 weeks ago. 98’ AC ZR500 roughly 4500 miles. Super clean with zero issues. Fairly new track, new belt, I think I got a great deal for never riding before. I have only run the GI trail with it so far. Maybe 30 miles or so but it feels great. Anything I should watch out with this model?
Left Clarence on the sled at 9am, back to the trailer at 6:30pm. 214 mile loop through Marilla, Java, Arcade, Springville, Ashford, Machias, Franklinville, back to Arcade then home through Holland and Marilla. If this is the last ride of the season it was one hell of a way to end it.
edit: Re that ZR above. Check the carb intake boots and make sure they don’t have any cracks or dry rot. That will let air in, lean out the mixture and burn down the motor.
