Do you bar mount the phone like a gps? How does that work? Even with my phone in my jeans pocket inside my snow pants I have an issue with it turning off on me in the cold temps.
I like the apps if I get somewhere unfamiliar but for the most part I am able to navigate without stopping just using the trail signs and a decent sense of direction. I will check out my route online before I head out and just kind of roll with it as I go. I know I am safe at about ~100 mi per tank so with that in mind I just like to keep moving. I cannot stand riding with guys that have to check the map at every junction.
I just keep it in my coat pocket and it’s was fine on all but the day we rode and it was -15 with -40 wind chills.
I’m generally a junction sign rider that will just glace and power on but when I get into areas I don’t know at all or riding some of the clubs that don’t mark for crap we use the app quite a bit.
Starting in Clarence and heading into Wyoming County is my favorite but I have a feeling this will be a chase the snow year. Meaning trailer into Colden/Tri County area and ride the lake effect band. That or head to Tug Hill. If it’s one of those winters where Tug is the only place with snow though I’d rather just stay home than go deal with the ridiculous concentration of morons that will be up there.
Steve does really good work. He re-worked my old banshee rear shock, new spring and Race Tech valve. Rode absolutely fantastic. Some of my snowmobile riding buddies have had work done by him with great results as well.
Steve moved to sunny side cycle now. Not sure if it’s up in his site or not. I just had a rear shock rebuild in a old rmx and it was done pretty quickly. Helps I work right up the street. Also I had Steve work on my supermoto suspension back in the day. Definitely worth going to him.
Talked to Steve and my friend who lives in Batavia is going to drop them off at Sunny Side tomorrow.
Yeah, the one coilover for the rear looked like it was going to be impossible to get at without pulling the skid. I looked at a couple forums and people said the same thing, easier to just pull the skid. Between that and a very slight leak on one of the chain case seals I figured what the hell, I’ll just pull everything out.
Just to put things in perspective we didn’t start riding until Jan 10th last season for anyone that’s super worried. Just need temperatures to get a little lower so the ground starts to freeze. Don’t want to mudmobile.
