2014/2015 Snowmobile Season Thread

that’s how I was! I was completely happy with my 2002 Polaris 600 then I rode a rev and it was over haha I needed one, then this year I was happy on my rev because I had the suspension, clutching and looks the way I wanted it…then I rode a buddy’s 12-13 rev…that suspension on them makes the older revs ride like junk. then realized you don’t buy a new sled for speed and power, but for the better suspension. I could drink a beer and ride down un-groomed trails on this thing

I have refused to ride a new chassis because I know I will end up with one after I ride one lol

I agree. This is the only Rev in the area under 2K and it looks like a hobbled together hodge podge.

As far as being realistic goes, either one of these would be a decent option if they aren’t too hammered.

700 is a good motor. Mileage doesn’t seem to matter as much with Edges because the pistons were of higher quality than all the newer CF motors. https://rochester.craigslist.org/snw/5349678139.html

Found this the other day. Might be more of a basket case then he lets on but not a bad price if it isn’t. Danger had one and it always seemed to run alright. Don’t think it has reverse though.

I rode my buddy’s F7 for 100 miles or more last year, and really liked the power delivery. Handling was not too bad, but felt like more of a muscle car than a corner carver. I’d be willing to spend a bit more to get something that will try to hold onto some of its value

Think you might be able to get more for your money with something else. That isn’t a brand biased answer either because I don’t play that game.

Just going to throw it out there, my MXZ-X is going to be going up for sale soon.

2006 Skidoo MXZ-X 600 SDI, electric start, reverse. Around 5500 miles I think. I’ll get the exact number when I put it for sale in a week or so.
Sled is mint. It’s got the stock low windshield + a tall touring windshield like what came on the GSX sleds.
I’m putting new carbides on it this year.
Last year I put a new 1.22" Camoplast Ice Attak track, graphite slides and went through all the bogie wheel bearings. I didn’t ride much last year so they saw maybe 500 miles max. Also got a new Diehard battery last year.

I’ve got the skid out this year and replaced a couple worn bushings but other than that it didn’t need anything.

Basically it’s as turn key a sled as you’ll find. I plan on riding it this year if it doesn’t sell.

$3800 Pretty firm on price because I know once the snow starts falling it will sell at that price with all the new parts it’s got.

Whats next?

Boat upgrade. Thinking about selling my 18’ with the 3.0 4 banger for something 20-21’ with a V8. I just don’t use the sled enough to justify it. Plus my kid and I are getting more and more into skiing and last year I’d find myself out on the sled thinking, “I’d rather be skiing”.

Had the opposite happen here. Been skiing my whole life and at some point 2-3 years ago I was like why the hell am I spending $120 for two people to go skiing for 4 hours. The enjoyment for the amount of money being spent was not adding up for me. Everyone is different though.

Nice, I went backwards on this, boarded for years, found myself on the lifts thinking “man, I wish I was riding right now”. BUT sharing experiences with your kids is priceless, I wouldn’t trade the time snowboarding, boating, riding etc that I am able to do with my father still (at 50) for anything and look forward to doing the same for my kids someday.

if we ever do get snow this year, I’d love see a NYSpeed member ride

Wyoming county would be the best place to meet in the middle between Buffalo and Rochester. Byrncliff or some place like that.

That will sell quick, great sled

+1, let me know when…

Steve called, shocks are done, and they needed some parts because it had been a while since they were rebuilt. He also said who ever did them last time put the pistons in upside down so not only were they a bitch to take apart but it must have rode like complete garbage. Spent about 15 minutes on the phone talking shocks with him. Dude has probably forgotten more about shocks than I’ll ever know. $218 for 4 shocks, 3 of which have external reservoirs and needing some parts seemed more than fair.

I’ve got some time off next week so I’ll probably put it all back together then and get some pictures for a craigslist ad.

@burnsmoney has a really nice zr 600 that has a noise in the motor. he’d probably sell it right and you could fix it in a day or two.

I only come here when Matt mentions me in the sled thread. He is correct though, I would love to get it out of my garage. Otherwise I’m planning on doing the top end in the next couple weeks and then posting it for sale.

Picked up this 05 Firecat F6 the other day. Looks to be well cared for and maintained and came with some nice extras.

Which sled is light, nimble and fast out of the hole. I am not looking for a big cruiser, just something to play around on my property.

I rode my buddy’s 03ish F7 and it scared the pants off me in a straight line. Kind of a porker though. The new rider forward stuff I hear is amazing in the curves but I don’t have personal experience to back it up. His 500 Sno-Pro (2010ish vintage) is very nimble as well and nearly as quick in a straight line.

My property is wooded so there is a lot of tight turns around trees and a need to get going again in a hurry.
