Went to Sodus for a quick rip on Friday. Shockwave joined. Only a few miles but since it was the first time out this year it was nice to do a shake down.
Only really bad spot was on 104. Fortunately there was a re-route to avoid this.

Look at the 10 day. 5 straight days of rain and 40 degree temps. All of the snow will be mud by the first week in feb.
Yep. Winter is over as far as I’m concerned.
Sounds like by next week you’ll need to trailer to Tug Hill if you want to ride… with every Blair Morgan wannabe and bar hopping idiot in the state of NY, PA and NJ.
I really like riding tug hill but only during the week when it’s quieter. Now that I have a truck that cruises a little better the drive will hopefully be more enjoyable. I’m planning to go up in the next week or two on a wednesday or thursday. Anyone wanna join?
Just left old forge / Tug hill yesterday. There was about a 1 foot base, and it was raining hard yesterday. Trails were whooped out a bit with tons of rocks / stones on top. Some trails were good, but there were a lot of bad ones. If it warms up any more the trails may be toast.
time to close thread
I put mine on the trailer in the extra garage spot and covered it, probably will sit until Tug Hill gets to be in better shape
Is it worth the hassle to trailer up to Canada? I hear it’s really smooth fun riding up there
I was up in Canada around 8-10 years ago and enjoyed it. We’ll maintained trails and plenty of snow. Little longer drive though.
How long? 6+? Just tossing around options of Tug Hill VS Canadia. With the exchange rate the way it is, the usual slew of gas for sleds/trucks and food for a couple days would probably be cheaper up there.
IIRC we left home around 5-5:30 and made it up there (don’t remember name of the town) by 11:00ish. We did have to deal with driving two trucks / trailers through Toronto evening rush hour traffic. I wanna say we went near the North Bay / Lake Nippising area.
I still haven’t ridden Ontario or Quebec but I’ve heard nothing but how much better the trails are up there. Ontario does have a 50KPH speed limit on their entire trail system though. Not sure how strictly it’s enforced but I’ve seen lots of posts of people bitching about a cop that was hiding at the end of a wide open field handing out tickets to people going just 50 MPH.
I do 50 out of the trailer.
goddamn canadians always ruining everything.
50kph is really slow (31mph). Even the slow old people I tend to get stuck behind go at least 40-45 when they hit an open field.
Guy I work with is in north bay right now. Says there is decent snow, but iffy on if it’s worth the drive or not. I might be heading to Michigan next week… A friend is there and says 3 feet of perfect snow.
I used to go to northbay every year with my dad and his friends. its worth it to go up there for sure, the trail system is great! we used to rent a house right on the lake and take off across the lake to hit the trails every morning, there’s nothing like being wide open going 100+ mph across the ice!
Yeah, keep your head tucked at those speeds!
before my first time up north people would tell me storys about having there throttle pinned for 3-5 min, didn’t believe it till I went up there lol
Me too. And since you don’t have to pay much attention to which direction you’re going to can stare at the gas gauge and watch it fall. We did some pulls in the morning on the Redfield Reservoir up in Tug Hill and when we were ready to finally get on the trail we looked down realizing we had burned almost half a tank.
haha gotta pay to play! I wish I got out this year, I rode maybe a half a mile around my house a few times just so I could ride my new sled and my son wanted to go for a ride around on it too
