2015 Mustang (the new detroit war isn't all about horsepower)

Redline is 8250 RPM DROOL I want to start saving my pennies to get that baby and drop her in my GT.

I rented on in California for a weekend. I really enjoyed the car but it is certainly not a “Mustang” to me. Mustangs dont have all of these fancy features and modes.

It is a super car, well styled, enjoyable to drive at any pace and very comfortable with the heated/cooled seats.

I am a purist when it comes the Mustang name and while this car is certainly the global pursuit of selling cars, it was just a really nice car to me.

I agree that mustangs should be raw. But I think they have so many options and ways to buy them now that it makes them more viable from a profitability standpoint by appealing to a broad audience, which is really what they have always been about. Sure a mustang needs a V8 to me, but that isn’t what they are about to plenty of other people. From day one the mustang has been a versatile car that has meant something different to all different types of buyers. They have had convertible 6 bangers from the start. They have always sold in crazy quantities too.

I really want a gt350. Mostly because of a flat plane crank which has absolutely no lineage with mustangs. Oh and the new IRS. Which isn’t a mustang thing traditionally either. Still think it is a bad ass car. Means I’ll have to keep driving a gti as a daily though.

Looks cool, but how does it only run 12’s at 116 mph with 850 hp?!

That is pretty funny after all the heat soak issues the new Z06 was getting yet it was still going upper 120s in the 1/4

c7 z06 > super snake

In the end, I was able to put down a 1:30.86 lap on the optional Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires.

Same lap times as a ~125whp spec miata @ 1:30.905.

Slower than a Honda CRX Si, rules restricted to a stock DA16, H/I/E so what… ~115 ish wheel hp, 225 tire. @ 1:29.531

But why?

Yea a poverty CRX and a gay Miata are faster

The performance specs are disappointing but comparing shitty cars to something brand new with a warranty was cool 10 years ago not so much anymore

Bro. My pov spec dedicated track car is faster than your showroom stock mustang.

Tangible perspective. I am confident that more people on this forum have had real world experiences lapping / racing vehicles similar in performance to CRX and/or Miata than a 850hp Mustang.

Well, when you can’t come up with a constructive response insults are always a good choice. At least that hasn’t gone out of style yet.

Because 99% of the people buying these cars don’t care about laptimes? Is that a better argument?

The fact its down on power as reflected by the trap speed is going to be a much larger issue to most vs the fact some race car gutted Miata tied it around a track.

This is the same shit with the FRS/BRZ Oh the handling Oh the handling and none of those people take them to the track.

Then why publish lap times?

Because road and track publishes all kind of specs for all cars they look at really fast or really slow?

I got all excited before reading, hoping it was an 850HP car you could pick off the lot at a dealer, not an absurdly priced tack on package. Would much rather have the vette. Looks bad ass though, especially after being photoshop’d.

I will never ever understand why GM guys compare Vettes to Mustangs…forget about the Camaro? which is supposed to be the competitor for the Mustang.

Which Mustang? A lot of times they get compared with the GT500 because the price points were similar

I get the bang for the buck, but the GT500 at Mid 60s = ZL1 Camaro

Vette Z06 at 80k seems like a bit outside the comparison
