2015 Mustang (the new detroit war isn't all about horsepower)

The hatch / fastback is awesome

C&D is now backing off their prediction that it’s going to lose 200lbs.

It would seem extremely hard unless the car is a lot smaller and they dump my aluminum and other light weight materials at it.

I read this and expected the 'vert to be gross, but it actually looks really nice.

Even it it doesn’t lose lbs, the car still looks slimmer and less-bulky than previous versions. Great looking car that is making it hard for me to dislike it.

I liked hearing that the car is a bit lower, and apparently a dual turbo setup for the I4 (assuming one small and one big for low and high rpm) Correct me if wrong please.

Probably just one twin scroll turbo. There doesn’t seem to be much of a point of sequential turbos anymore.

So what kinds of turbos are there? I know a sequential setup (my understanding is one small into a bigger one for no loss of boost in high or low rpms) Scroll turbo (one turbo…guessing setup different than a normal turbo?)

Sorry, not educated in the different types of forced induction since I’ve never owned one.

<3200 lbs is exciting, the rest is banter

.

That part probably isn’t happening anymore, according to C&D.

And this according to Edmunds…

Weight reduction measures have been minimal. Aluminum fenders replace the current car’s steel, but otherwise the 2015 Mustang employs a steel-intensive unibody construction. Ford’s lips are sealed regarding curb weight other than to point out that the new car has a lot more feature content than the old car, which is code for “It’s heavier.” Our guess is that the new car will gain about 100 pounds, which would place the GT model in the low 3,700-pound range.

I don’t know what magic people would think they could do to keep the price low and drop the weight 500lbs+

BRZ is what 2900-3000lbs and its tiny compared to the mustang

BRZ is 2760.

Considering they went to an IRS and made the car a bit smaller I don’t think a 200lb weight loss was asking too much for 3600 lb car. Ford has never been great at vehicular weight watchers though. Escape 3515, CRV 3305, CX-5 3194.

On the subject of BRZ/FR-S vs. Mustang, the last gen V6 (I think that is just a plain 'ole base) didn’t do too bad against them. Even at the same weight the IRS should at the very least improve subjective feel.

Is there an official length on the new one? Here’s the old one.

^ That’s a cool picture really showing you the differences.

It’s a 2 door Fusion…

The Cadillac ATS is only 3300 lbs.

That’s hot.

but then Camaro ss 3719 lbs, Challenger srt8 4170, Mustang gt 3618

More expensive materials? Costs ~$10k more and 98 less horsepowers. http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/2013-cadillac-ats-25l-test-review

Base vs. Base.

You’d have to step up to the $37,595 (base price) 3561 lb ATS 3.6 to match the 14.0 second 1/4 mile of the $22,995 (base price) 3520 lb V6 Mustang
