I can’t find the original article that made this comparison. The GTI is slower than the old R32 and Golf R 0-60 and 1/4 mile, BUT, the GTI is faster everywhere else (real world, roll racing, off of a corner).
30 to 60: GTI 3.5s, R32 3.5s (draw), Golf R 4.0s
60 to 100: GTI 8.6s, R32 9.5s, Golf R 8.7s
100 to 120: GTI 7.7s, R32 9.2s, Golf R 8.5s
30 to 120: GTI 19.8s, R32 22.2s, Golf R 21.2s
110 trap is awesome… I’ll be interested to see what stage 2 gets.
my first gen direct inject FSI A3 with apr stg 2 (just an ebay downpipe and tune) went from 200/200 crank to 260/300 whp/tq and runs 14 flats… makes for a fun daily driver and gets 30mph highway… traction is always an issue down low, but I’m just used to waiting until the car is rolling before I punch it.
[The Performance Pack, a $1495 stand-alone option available on all trim levels and with both transmissions, adds an additional 10 hp, for 220 hp total, plus bigger brakes and, most notably, an electronically controlled, hydraulically actuated, torque-sensing, limited-slip front differential.]
I wonder if it has the K04 size turbo like my Golf R. I was at the track 2 weeks ago and was trapping 108 ish on a pretty hot day. That’s catless, with the stock K04 running 25lbs of boost. 12.9 @107.59 with a 1.8 60’ to be specific. (that’s in the top 20 on the Golf R 1/4 mile list, sad as it is) I’m guessing with more ideal conditions I could prob trap 110mph, but my car has the filter on a stick, catless downpipes and the Stage 2 tune.
