so i ran my friends sti yesterday…he has intake and full turbo xs exhaust. me= gti with apr chip…we ran from 20 to about 80 and we were dead even… i did not expect that at all!.
your friend probably sucks at driving… Does he have any retune? Did he port his WG?
he has a cobb tuner on the way… and no he did not…i never said ne thign about driving skills…just saying what happened…i was completly surprised
if he has a full exhaust and did not reflash, he is probably boost creeping pretty badly… does he have a boost gauge? What year sti? is it that black one w/ silver wheels?

I agree my stock WRX (when it was) would waste a chipped VW. I know because i have a fairly moded VW and My scooby still spanks it.
Yea your friends STi needs some kind of ecu management with those mods, good thing he has a cobb accessport coming. Race him after he gets the Stage 2 93oct map loaded up. Also, he probably sucks at driving if he couldn’t beat your car, what gear did he start in from 20 mph?

If I bought the apr chip for the gli we have, I know it would boost it up to 252hp/303lb-ft on the 93 oct map which isn’t slow. I know it would wreck my friends stock 04 wrx.
While I agree that a stock or mildly (properly) modded STI should beat an APR 2.0T VW, statements like this piss me off. What is your fairly modded VW? A 12V VR6? A chippped Toureg? A Cabrio with wheels?
Have you raced your stock WRX against an APR tuned 2.0T GTI? Believe it or not, not all chipped VW’s are the same.

A stock 04 is not equal to a stock 06. You are talking nearly a 30 whp difference and shit load more torque in the 06.

its an 04 sti… and im pretty sure my chiped vw 2.0t would take a stock wrx even the 06’s seeing as how ive drove one…and my gti also beat a legecy gt by over a car legnth , in the rain. and he had a downpipe on it.
and im sure your gt28r jetta is much quciker than your stock wrx… seeing as how a stock wrx runs mid 14’s in the quarter.
also…there is only a 3 hp dif between a 02 wrx and an 06 wrx. and i belive 18 more lb/ft.
and agian, im not trying to start anything here…im not claiming my car is fast…just saying what happened and it was a even race.

Look at the stock numbers. First one is an 02-05. Second is an 06. Looks like a bit more than 3 hp at the wheels.
