2017 Civic Type R $55k

Type r receiving the same price gouging as when the hellcat came out.

Meh, it’s capitalism. No on is forcing you to buy one. If they can get an extra 20k profit good for them. Before long there will be a bunch on the market and the markups will be gone just like with the Hellcat.

Well put Jay.

Cool car though.

Completely agree with ya, just thought it was wild to see 25k over on a civic lol I don’t remember seeing that much on like a focus rs. Then again I never really looked lol.

I wonder if they’re actually selling with these huge markups though?

Most car search tools start “highest price first” by default in sorting until you re-sort. You may be on to something. They could just be trolling for clicks and then list other cars in same dealership inventory for less $.

Probably don’t count but serial number 1 was auctioned off for 200k. Tho proceeds went to charity.

Yeah, definitely not. Serial 1, charity auction, tax exemption for anything paid over fair market value etc etc.

Definitely not gouging. Exclusivity costs extra. Supply and demand. Not saying it is how I would spend my money but it isn’t like we are talking about a necessity that everyone needs.

they are going to sell thousands a year, not that exclusive to me, at least not enough to justify the price gouging

EVENTUALLY they are going to sell 1000’s a year. Right now they are in very short supply.

Every dealer gets 1, MAYBE 2 in certain metro areas. Locally the Honda dealers have already delivered them over sticker. Not $20,000 but several thousand over.

It happens with Golf R, Focus RS, Mustang GT350, etc.

I dig the fake rear grills that do nothing. Siqqqqqqq

Something is worth what someone is willing to pay. That is basically how a market economy works. As I said, not worth it to me either, but price gouging isn’t really the correct term. Gouging implies taking advantage of someone and usually refers to something someone needs in a time of crisis.
