It’s about that time for one of these threads. From NOAA as of 1/12 @ 3:08pm:

will be Saturday into Sunday. Blizzard conditions will be
possible at times, especially Saturday night and Sunday.

  • WHERE…Erie, Genesee, and Wyoming counties.

  • WHEN…From 10 AM Saturday to 7 AM EST Monday.

  • IMPACTS…Travel will be very difficult to impossible.
Widespread blowing snow will significantly reduce visibility.
Very strong winds could cause extensive tree damage.

As well as…

becoming southwest 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 65 mph

    counties.

  • WHEN…From 7 PM this evening to 4 AM EST Sunday.

  • IMPACTS…Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines.
Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be
difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE!

…LAKESHORE FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM SATURDAY
TO 4 AM EST SUNDAY…

  • WHAT…Significant lakeshore flooding expected. Rapid rises
are expected Saturday morning with the highest levels Saturday
    afternoon and early evening.

  • WHERE…Niagara, Erie, and Chautauqua counties.

  • WHEN…From 7 AM Saturday to 4 AM EST Sunday.

  • IMPACTS…The rapid rise in water levels will result in
lakeshore flooding along the Upper Niagara River shore. Along
the Upper Niagara River, flooding is likely to affect Grand
    Island and Cayuga Island.

Going to top off some gas cans tonight after work in case we get into an extended outage situation where I have to run the generator a lot. Other than that I’m always pretty well prepped for storms. Lake Erie is 40 degrees right now so the lake snow could get pretty wild. To make matters worse temperatures are going to plummet Sunday into Monday, with the lows Sunday night through Wednesday night being the low to mid teens. If you don’t have power your house is going to get cold quick.

I’m watching it as well since I’ll be in multiple parts of the state. Current overview:

Tell them to update that map. It’s spelled XTREME.

Never a good sign when they pre-stage this many linemen. Eastern Hills mall at 5pm.

It’s running through Detroit now. We got about 5 heavy inches. My snow beater is doing great.

I was driving the 90 last night and there were many plows headed towards Buffalo.

Also this…

I got the notification while at Walgreens, everyone’s phones were going off. It’s such panic theater.

Oh, it’s going to SNOW OUT? IN BUFFALO??? SEND OUT THE EMERGENCIESSSSSSS

I’m so sick of this hype culture of what have been mediocre or normal events.

Someone needs to take that power away from baby Markie. No one needed an air raid alert at 9am to warn them about a storm that’s been the only thing anyone has talked about for 2 days.

It’s top of mind for most people I’d imagine. However, there are definitely people in the community who don’t pay attention to anything other than their immediate concerns.

So society stoops to it’s lowest level once again.

lol the Gov just called this a “super storm” in her conference… We’ll see.

Bills game is supposedly pushed to 4pm?

Confirmed, Bills game Monday 4:30. I got the emergency alert this morning but oddly my wife’s phone did not.

Edit- Travel ban in Erie county going into effect at 9pm

I was not even safe in Niagara county.
My damn work phone has a 14150 zip code.

Lost power for an hour but just came back.
Lots of wind trying to ruin my deck “walls”.

It’s snowing and windy in Town of Tonawanda right now.

You know, like winter.

Travel bans can suck my dick. They need to smack anyone trying to implement a travel ban.

Understanding Your Right to Travel

This legal right generally means you can move around areas of the U.S. without the government impeding you. A state can’t keep you stuck within its borders or prohibit entry . States must uphold the rights of the people, except as part of due process for specific case types.

lol, about the Bills game

Maybe im wrong, but most of wny looks pretty clear. Radar doesn’t look bad beyond usual snow bands.

The fear porn is infuriating

Better keep the entire countylocked down.

It’s been sunny here in the northtowns since noon, still have a travel ban. #electionshaveconsquences

Northtowns of Erie lifted the ban. I was out and about in Niagara County midday and just had to deal with blowing snow creating some snow covered patches of roadway.
