24 Hours of Lemons

Anyone ever do this? I just started my search for a car, and will probably take a while to find something running for a couple hundred bucks but i’ve got a few months.

Yup, few times here.

any cars you recommend? any insight?

Finding something that runs for $500 is the tough part since that’s close to scrap value.

Hurry starting to part out. But runs for $400.

p4/5 was pace car for the one in monticello

holy shit this looks fun.

Yup, soemthing either light and nimble to work around the piles, or a beefy boat that’s got a little nut. I’ve used a POS 240SX with a bone stock KA. couldn’t kill the fucker, It’s still here sitting in the weeds.

In reality, if you want I may be able to work something out where you could borrow it. I have to see about the rules regarding that…

Don’t buy new tires. Buy a couple sets of spare rims that’ll fit(considered safety equipment, doesn’t count towards $500 total) and buy some used 200+ treadwear tires. they’re be heat cycled and will last way way longer. we went a full 24hrs at nelsons on two sets of used $50 tires.

Tires/wheels, anything brake related9pads, rotors, lines, etc), cage, harness, fire supression etc are all considered safety equipment and not counted as part of the $500. same goes for a race seat if desired.

work labor DOES count though, unless you do it yourself(document it!!!)

ask away with questions. This is an on/off series for us when we all have time as a group to do. Haven’t done it in a couple years. It’s blown up like a firestorm since we started doing it and some races can be tough to get in.

Bribe the fuck outta Jay when you arrive for driver registration, he’ll give you brownie points :lol

I’ve never done that, but I’m looking into this for the new toy…
