like 2003specv said, the 89-90 had the teardrop blinker lights in the bumper with optional fog lights that were kinda square and not that good looking. the 91-94 had both the blinkers and fog lights in the bumper in a teardrop shape. the engines did also switch and i think that was the reason the lsd was introduced. From what i have gathered is there were no factory lsd’s in 89 and 90’s, and only some in the newer style. hicas ones did have them i think, and some others, but it seems like a big nissan mistery…
-1989-1994 There was a coupe and a hatchback version. There was also a limited edition convertable version. When going for the S13, most people go for the 89-93 because the 94 was available strictly as a convertable with an auto tranny. From 1989-1990 the coupe and the fastback both came with the KA24E. That’s a single cam motor that puts out 140 HP. From 1991 and up it came with the KA24DE, a dual cam motor that puts out 155 HP. The S13 was also available with HICAS which is a 4 wheel steering system. Some people like it a lot and some hate it. If you plan on drifting, you don’t want HICAS. HICAS models also came with lsd in Canada. 91-93’s are easier to sr20det/ca18det etc swaps on because the power steering reservoir and lines are on the same side as the japanese counterpart, also they have the dohc instrument cluster. The interior is also nicer in the chuki.
89-90 = zenki
91-94 = chuki
we didn’t get the kouki model here
Strange, because my s13, which is an 89, does have the cooling fins on the back but doesn’t seem to really act like an lsd. Although that said, the shitty ass tires on it might make it hard to tell conclusively.
I know! That’s what I thought too…even though lots of people claim that ALL canadian models regardless of year have em. I did notice that it doesn’t have the LSD oil only sticker on it.
