IMO i think all this car needs is the bumper painted to match and the zipties cut. i’d totally rock it.
This thread is so stupid.
What’s with this mentality… Don’t you guys have anything better to do than bash eachother’s cars, really.
FUCK!
Jared that car is ok, but jesus, get rid of the zipties and match your paint.
what is wrong with zip ties their amazing
^^^white240’s 180 is cleeean. paint that bumper
That’s the problem with SON. Half the people can’t tell what’s wrong with the cars.
:picard:
God help us all. What have we done to deserve this?
Got this PM - just thought I’d share.
I don’t find the need to post pictures of my car but I’ll paint you a picture - it’s automatic, it’s slow, it’s black, and completely stock.
My parts are not sold because I am obviously a horrible seller with no sense of business. I don’t understand the needs of the consumers, nor do I have a very good marketing campaign. Or perhaps these economic downtimes have somehow affected the buyers on SON.
What do I need to “back up?”
I sure am spoiled - but only because they’ve endlessly showed effectionate (NOT financial) support for me. I can honestly say, without their support and help, I would not have learned the many life lessons I they shared with me. I can only sympathize for those who are neglected by their parents.
A thread like this is as useless as any other “rice thread” yet, people flame and continue to post them…really hits home when we talk about the S chassis, doesn’t it. Why not see this thread as a HELPFUL tool for new people in the 240sx world. That’s certainly how I saw when it was created.
I dont wanna sound like a queer or nothing but, I love you Mark.
You know…Im just saying.
you know you drive a 240sx when something on the car is held on with zipties
win!
I felt this needed a lolcat… that is all.
Yea, i was the one that started the huge one,. waaay back in the day. The funny thing, is some of those cars posted are not rice. (not the obvious ones, that fobwall posted), but the orange s15 with the gay vertical doors. I must admit looks very striking. Even though it is a tad ricey, other than the doors, its an overall nice looking car. But hey, i guess thats just me, and everyone has a different opinion on things, so meh, whatever I guess.
Okay. This thread baffles me.
RICER
(Ricer: from the latin word Ricarius meaning to suck at everything you attempt)
A person who makes unecessary modifications to their most often import car (hence the term “rice”) to make it (mostly make it look) faster. The most common modifications are (but not limited to):
- Huge exhaust that serves no purpose but to make the car louder
- Large spoiler on the back that looks like something Boeing made for the 747
- Lots of after-market company stickers they don’t have parts from, but must be cool
- Expensive rims that usually cost more than the car itself
- Bodykit to make the car appear lower, usually accented with chicken wire
- Clear tail lights and corner signals
- A “performace intake”- a tube that feeds cold air to their engine usually located in areas of excessive heat (behind or on top of the engine)
- Most of these riced cars (a.k.a. rice rockets or rice burners) are imports; Honda Civics, Accords, Integras, CRXs, RSXs, Del Sols Mitsubishi Eclipses, Lancers, Subaru Imprezas, however there are some domestics such as Chevrolet Caviliers, Dodge Neons, Ford Focus; small, slow, economy cars designed specifically to go slow. Please note that some Supras, Skylines, WRX’s and other higher performance imports are designed to go fast, and are therfore not always considered rice. It really depends on the severity of the case.
The “ricer” attempts to make their car “performance” by adding the modifications listed above. These ricers are not confined to any one ethnic group or color, however different ethnic groups are known for certain styles.
Mark, are you on crack?
I’ve been to YOUR track days. Rice? I have OEM aero. Uncut zipties? Rice, or fanboy-ism. Can we clarify?
At YOUR track day, I went off track once, and the zipties did exactly what they were supposed to. The OEM pignose lip seperated via zipties breaking, and didn’t break/rip any screws, or break anything else. I don’t cut them because RICERS, that mold in full fiberglass aero HATE it. My car gets made fun of in parking lots all the time, because i mount my parts with zipties. In MY mind, it seperates my car from the “ricers”, because it is a functional way, to mount shit that breaks off fairly often at the track.
Offended? Yeah I am. I don’t think my car should be on that list, especially from someone that knows me, and has SEEN my car on track.
ACTUALLY
At least three cars on that list
Mine: OEM pignose lip, 180 skirts, OEM mudflaps
Brendens (simpleminds7): gtr wheels, oem aero, STOCK EXHAUST
Andrew (ka24power): oem pignose lip, 180 skirts
Does that make sense at all? Exterior mods defining “rice”, but everyone I’ve talked about has NISSAN OEM parts on their car.
Mark, the car is actually nice with the exception to the zip ties sticking out.
Didn’t mean to offend you.
If you cut the zip tie and paint that front bumper, your car will actually be really nice.
And those definitions of ricers are old now, the new breed of ricers has come in case any of you haven’t noticed. Those that want to show off all those performance parts that they will never make use of… you get what I mean.
To respond to the 3 other cars, it’s the mismatched coloured aero, the flat black paint, and the zip ties once again.
Sorry then. I thought this thread was a collection of RICEY 240’s.
I’m just confused why you thought it was a brillant idea to post up a bunch of cars of people from the forum, all active good members… in a RICE thread.
I know the whole “witty, cool, snide” thing is kind of your “thing”… but in this case its a brillant example of you being a douchebag.
ESPECIALLY to people you know personally.
(edited three times for extra "last lines)
I’m the Sean Avery of SON.
I painted my bumper about 5 weeks ago. Just for the record.
Rice! Who the heck paints rims with rust proof orange paint?
Mark (Fobwall), rice and style are completely different. Uncut zipties and exhausts 3ft in the air is a style if done properly.
There you go.
i have a full body kit. zipties on my car. i track my car so what does that make me? super rice
Who needs to paint their aero? I sprayed mine with $5 rattle can paint.
Seriously…
