Ontario hasn’t quite figured out the whole borderline bozo-style cars. The burgundy coupe with the huge exhaust tips is Teddy’s car (s13teddy on zilvia)… those boso pipes are a style statment in japan. Cheesy, yes. But like samson said, don’t confuse rice for style.

cars with a little damage an zip ties look awesome in my opinion… at least they arnt affraid to get out and use there cars for what they have built them to do
You can still do this and not leave uncut zipties all over the place. It only takes an extra second and a pair of sidecutters. Damage should be fixed imho when possible. Competitive drift cars HAVE to maintain a good image. Notice all the D1/FD/USD/etc cars are ridiculously well taken care of and start off each round in near mint condition. Broken aero is fixed, dents are pulled, body panels are replaced and so on. Its in the contracts.
I think mark is trying to show its a bit of a bastardization of it. To make your car look like its just come back from D1GP when it hasnt.

Yeah, you’re right I have a flat black front lip and skirts held on with zipties. why?
Well, when I scrape it fucks up the paint. Flat paint blends pretty easy and you don’t have to do a lot of prep work to make it look superb. My skirts are also flat black because I am too lazy to prep them properly to paint them.
I’m sorry you don’t like my car. If you would like I can cut my zipties, paint my aero and raise it.

I crash more than the dudes in D1 do, I’m not as good as them. But doesn’t the principal of having a car devoted to drifting have the same premise? My 180 is a drift car that I daily drive… it doesn’t look like its a d1 car, you’re right… but wouldn’t that look a bit ridiculous as a DD?

No? I put a lot of hard work into making my car look exactly as it does now.
Its MY style, and I’m proud of how my car looks.
I am particularly annoyed that it is MARK calling out cars/owners that he knows, and that have supported him and his endeavours in the past.
Yeah, thats logical when explained that way… however… my car IS a drift car. I do not have the budget of D1GP, nor the desire to make it look like any of those cars. (not to say I wouldn’t if I could, but I don’t at the moment)
If my car gets mistaken for a car in d1gp, then I will be suprised.
If my car looks like a car that GETS drifted, then sweet.
main point being is fobwall shouldnt post anymore… it just pisses the masses off.
as for the zip tie thing and not cutting them… I try to cut mine when i can… sometimes I snap one and dont have anything to trim the new one after I put it on… so it acts as my new curb feeler till i remember to cut it off or I snap it and add a new one… lol
Mark, if you’re proud of your car, then you shouldn’t have cared that I posted it up.
This is just a forum, and I think people take things way too seriously.
And if anything, isn’t it better than you know me, you know what I look like and you can kick my ass the next time you see me.

I dunno to be honest, my go/no-go gauge for a car looking nice is if it’s good enough at night, it’s good enough for me.
Some people value the aesthetic appearance of the car, some value the stance of the car, some value other things relating to the overall look.
For me, I can tolerate a bit more rice if the car has a nice wheel setup. Too much rice and that’s a different story however. My car is not colour matched at all in terms of the average standard level of taste, but do I really care what other people think when I pull into wherever I’m going? No, because all I really care about is how the car feels in the end…
