hey i was just looking at a 240sx super hicus 4 wheel wheel steering, and im really unsure of how the 4 wheel steering works, and if it still works good for drifting or not and if it is a lot of extra weight. thanks
when you go fast and turn the back wheels turn a lil bit too. not sure about the weight but no its bad for drifiting and no one likes it
and how hard is it to remove…if possible
I heard it was a simple as unpluging it.
unplugging it is the unsafe way of doing it.
there is a lock bar that you can buy (kazama makes one for ~100-120USD ) that properly locks them in place. otherwise they can technically still move if theres enough force there I guess (i dont know the technicalities of it really)
you might also want to remove the hicas steering rack and replace it was a hicas replacment bar. that way your rear wheel wont move anymore
there has got to be a bunch of extra parts though to
how much are those bars and where to i find them
speaking of super hicas i found a picture awhile ago that i though was kidna strange
i always thought the rear wheels would turn out to make the rear swing out. i had no idea they turned the same way as the front.
thats basicly the same image but it has the rears turn out first then come in. anyone know what they really do?
under a certain speed, the rears turn the opposite way, and over a certain speed, they turn in the same direction.
At least, that’s how most 4 wheel steering systems work
^^^that is how the hicas 4 wheel steering works, at slower speeds they turn the opposite way to get into parking spots easier, and higher speeds that turn the same way
neato
i bet thats sick for auto X…but not to great for drifting huh.

well here is a pic of what i was talking about. i dont know what kind of access you have to parts but if you need one, i can get one at a local car shop. i would have to ship it you since i dont live in canada or the states.[/img]
so would you think it is worth my while to get a 4 wheel steering if im wanting to drift? because i want to swap in a red top right away as well.
why dont you work on your suspension and drivetrain first…get yourself a 2 way or 1.5 way and good coilovers, work on your driving then once you get good enough you get a SR.
ok well if ur going to drift and go to the track it could be worth ur while. whats the condition of the car? more hows the;
frame?
drivers side frame rail major spot?
strut towers?
body?
etc etc, its its rust ur going to twist the shit out of it and its not worth buying, if its in geat condition who cars if its 4 wheel hicas, try the 4 wheel and if u dont like it get the lock bar or switch rear subframe…and another thing if u plan on just drifting and swapping in a red top right away i would suggest getting multi link, coilovers etc, ur suspension is the most important thing when going to the track to auto X or drift. My friends into rally racing and this one guy has this old car i forget what it is, but its only like 120hp and hes racing against 250hp cars and keeping up to them because 1 hes a good driver, and 2 he has great suspension
sorry is its long but its important
well im still waiting for more info from the guy sellin the car. There no rust on the outside so he has said, but i know that doesnt mean much. Like the car will my daily driver as well, it wont be a total race car, i plan on slowly building it up for, auto x and also getting into the drift scene. sorry i should have mentioned early that it would be a daily driver. a daily driver that will still smoke an vtec crap that comes around me on the highway lol
as people put it, an idot can drive fast in a straight line…suspension suspension suspension, its the most important thing of any build up, before u get any horsepower go suspension so u know how to control the car then get the Hp and tq u desire…thats how the japs do it, they are smarter than the north americans where the markets are geared for high hp vehicles
