3-Series lovin ...

the way a 3 should sound

edit _ i clicked the link. never mind. stupid embedded videos.

sounds good. lol.

ehhh… if he was smart he would have used an LS1

My buddies blown LSX E36 M3> that carbed pos

weird Im sure the 5.0 cost much less. Might have been a budget driven decision.

I know If I did it … I would have put a Formula 1 motor in there, from the late 80s when they still could turbo

Meh, different, but it just doesn’t belong.

also, DUMB question, but when someone refers to a gm motor and they say LSX what does that mean? I know what an ls1,ls2 ect are… Is LSX just a differnt way of saying a gm 5.7ltr?

LSx are all GEN III GM motors…

X= a variable, just like pre-calc

Maybe soo … but who knows … maybe the drivetrain was free ???

and a new motor for the bimmer was out of his price range …

IMO free or pretty close to it > whatever skunk payed for his motor & any lsx

Aww come on now, what’s wrong with a good old fashioned carb.

Spiffy swap, though odd.

i like this one.

Brian

not really when the LSx is a bolt in affair and doesn’t throw off balance and handling characteristics…

I bet its a cost issue, especially if it costs this much just for the kit…

The SBF cost is much less and the weight is similar to a LS1,in fact it probably is lighter.

i cant see an iron block 5.0L weighing less than an aluminum block ls1. it just doesnt make sense.

Brian

Both are better then the BMW motors

Drool…

I couldn’t believe it either,its very close.

Google tells me LS1 w/t56 = 497lbs.

I can never get a 100% answer with the 5.0 weight but if you go on some Miata forums it ends up being a 5 page LS1 vs 5.0 argument most of the time.

you are comparing wet weight to dry weight

Just a thought but wouldn’t you also be able to place more of the engine behind the front wheels as well due to it’s shorter length? Would seem to make balance issue a near moot point.

Ghey.
