300ZX vs 350Z (Video Link)

Nissan Brothas shouldn’t fight… But when they do

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sNta7RQVFyY

The older one always wins.
BTW, this is the longer, heavier 2+2 300ZX TT.

Nissan on Nissan Love :R

^hahahah!
UNFAIR! the older bro cheated! LoL…

Nice vid, the 350z should have really been boosted from factory… oh well, i will just have to wait for my FI build.

Hahaha gotta love the 300ZX TT!

Awesome vid!

lol nice vid! its true though! older bro always win!

any 300zx tt wanna race my stock 350z?

Last I heard you weren’t so stock.
I’m willing to throw back in my Performance ECU into the car, up the boost and take it to the track.
“Stock against Stock” :R

^should be interesting race…
I’ll put my money on the stock 350z though…

I think the video isn’t very accurate. Even the stock specs for 0-60 and 1/4 miles for 300ZXTT is slower than 350Z.

^^^ Wow. Living proof and you still dispute it.

Man, I swear that guy didn’t go splat all over the sidewalk when he jumped off the building. Meanwhile you’re staring at his guts all over the sidewalk

One thing I’ve learnt the hard way is that numbers aren’t everything. Sure it’s written down but have you ever heard Nissan understating the power and performance values of a car to fit in line with various standards or anticipations?
You should know, the HP numbers on the 1st 350Z was kept secret by regular Nissan tradition right up to its production. The interior pictures weren’t shown because they didn’t want anyone to see the speedo. The R34 GTR was rated at 280hp from the factory but dyno tested stock at well over 300hp by some that got their hands on it.

This is not the first 350Z vs 300ZX video that I’ve heard where the 300 beat the 350 by a car length, and by all means it was not the first time that one of the hosts of the video clip noticed the exact same. It is a well known fact that the 300ZX TT runs a bit quicker than the 287HP 350Zs.

BTW, some specs

300ZX TT 0-60mph = 5.0s
350Z 0-60mph = 5.4s

300ZX TT Quarter Mile = 13.7sec at 102mph
350Z Quarter Mile = 14.1sec at 101mph

Where do you see the stock 350Z has faster numbers?

300zx stock is faster than 350z and but if you dont live your life a 1/4 mile at a time those are just numbers

Amen. Couldn’t have said it better myself.

I noticed you always create heated debates, learn to cool off :{ . I’m saying the video might have had driver errors or what not, while it’s true that Nissan and other car companies may have fiddled with hp #'s. Yes, numbers isn’t everything but it’s something to help start off the base when you’ve got nothing.

Seems like my sources for times differ from yours. But this is what I found:
Nissan 300ZX Turbo 0-60:6.0 1/4 mile:14.4
Nissan 350Z 0-60:5.3 1/4 mile:14.1

So I expected less than one car’s length, half at most. Relating to this, I suspected drivers error in the video.

No need to get all pissy just because someone disagrees with you.

^^^ Wasn’t a heated debate. I was making a statement.

Where’d you get those numbers? my350z.com? No Wonder.
I’ve pulled all my numbers from the internet and pulled additional sources to back up that the numbers are correct.

I went to google and searched the term “300ZX 0-60”
First page was this

did the same for “350z 0-60”
First page was this
http://www.modernracer.com/nissan350z.html

Went back and verified my numbers by searching “300zx quarter” and “350z quarter”

BTW, when looking make sure you look at results for 300ZX TT. Driver error in a controlled video that was intentionally released? I sincerely doubt it. This is not some homemade video by some overtly rich kid that has both vehicles at his/her disposal for thrashing, along with professional drivers. I’ve heard nothing but that the 350Z does not fully complete the legend that is Z. Fortunately Nissan has upped the numbers since its release.

Not being pissy, I am using facts in response to your statement. Strange that you perceived it as being “pissy”

I may be willing to take on a 350Z at the track next year. I won’t be stock though… hehehehe

Dude just for this you will get flamed but you are right lets look at some facts again.
300zx VG30DETT on what 7 psi and 350z VQ35DE on 0 psi so yes it would make sence that 300zx can over come there difference in displacement with boost until it overheats…again i dont know jack shit about cars or turbos so ignore my monkey ass comments

Davids #'s seem more accurate.
(remember I owned one…)

I have not seen a 300zxtt with stock /oem ecu and boost settings run lower then 14’s in the 1/4 mile.

The best I ran with my bone stock z32 was mid 14’s. In comparison, my friend at the time with his '94 MKIV ran mid 13’s…
However that was only with a total of 6 runs, in one summer.

There is a simple solution to this arguement… Take it to the track next year.

DISCLAIMER* I am just stating #'s from personal experience. If someone has time slips, while running stock boost, please post up for everyone to see.

I am sure there will be a few 350z who would be willing to take up that offer:D

OT:
keep your ears up and your head down!

keep safe over there, john.

Based on the numerous results pulled from the internet, Davids results are not more accurate.

Whats your numbers from the 350Z? The numbers released by Nissan are in ideal conditions. An overly hot day will make undesirable numbers with any Turbo’d car but will not affect an NA car as much.

Alex and I are planning on taking our cars out for track days next summer but my car is far from stock.

BTW altimaze, the 300ZX stock boost is 10.5psi. My car doesn’t overheat at 17psi. I drove my car for 4 hours straight this summer when the temp outside was around 34C. Thats with all stock cooling components and an underdrive pulley that doesn’t allow the waterpump to spin as fast.

reality get real son 300zxtt will run 13s all day any day but it all depends on the track conditions and driver and popcorn i was just stating what i saw first hand but then again not all 300zx are the same some have been beat to death and some are mint

Altimaze…
I dont want to argue, but have you owned or even driven a 300zx tt or 350z?

It very much depends on variables such as driver, track conditions, vehicle condition, altitude…

You contradict yourself, proof reading could be your friend…:R

Anyhow, the z32 is a great car, legendary… But what I stated was from personal experience, so if you dont have any, please dont argue with me.

Hey pat,

I did not get a chance to run at all this summer, work was to crazy.

But here are some stock numbers from my350z.com
