335 owners are they as bad internet forums say? lol

The appeal of the 335i is its a fun all around car and can make 400rwhp with a few bolt ons and you can find them RWD/CPO under 30k. BMW also does 0.9% on CPOs

If I didn’t go this route im not going to up my budget by 10k I will get a STI, New WRX, or G37x.

Then maybe S4 in 3 years(which lines up with my wife finishing her career as a professional student)

On the RS4 idea was keep it under 30k and that car is in the same boat with expensive to fix and would be out of warranty

I’m not Viper966 im not going to buy a car that was 80k new with 100,000 miles on it just to own one.

MUCH LOVE, someone who gets it!!! Then again this is post-CPO’d-clapped-out-six-figure-plus-odo-euro-owners-OMFGIFITCAMEWITHASTICKIDBUYITINASECOND.com on most days.

I understand the appeal of the 335…I had one in the stable for about a year and it was really a blast to drive. Had it for about 10k with zero issue.

However, I have to ask if you are questioning the reliability of the car, why would you still be interested? If you arent putting joy of driving (when its working at its full potential) above reliability, it may not be the right fit for you. Also, the last thing I would do to a car with reliability issues, is throw mods at it, unless of course I am willing to accept the risk of issues, which I doubt anyone who is reliant on a vehicle to be a solid daily car is up for.

I was trying to determine if the reliability issues are really that bad or if it’s mostly internet hype.

I mentioned this in the other thread I work from home so high reliability for getting me places isn’t a huge concern. This was more along the lines of trying to determine if the potential headaches are worth the performance and other positive aspects of the car.

i agree for the price you wont find a better value… but then you have to wonder why they tanked so bad in price that they are that much cheaper than an s4…

They haven’t really tanked. If you compare them to e46 and e36 the depreciation over time is similar.

e55

2010 s4 depreciation vs 2010 335I , the 335 depreciated much more

Compare it to and m3, and then compare the 335 against the A4 S-line or something similar. That is more and eye for an eye.

X…

I’d beg to differ on that, option for option and the s4 I’d very comparable when new

http://www.caranddriver.com/comparisons/2010-audi-s4-vs-2009-bmw-335i-comparison-test

335I msport is very comparable to the s4 (a much better comparison than an m3) close in price yet the bmw is worth 5-7000 less

I’m in no way saying the s4 is superior in performance or really anything except piece of mind with reliability

Audi plays a game of putting the S4 between the 335 and M3 on purpose. It makes it a little weird to compare because it’s never a true lateral.

isn’t the rs4 supposed to compete with the m3?

I thought you were asking if the owners of 335’s were bad

These are TERRIBLE choices after 75k unless it has a siqq warranty.

Ok, as to the question. Me and my girl just got into an 11’ 32k, 6 speed, M sport, xdrive with every option beside drivers parking assist(rear back up cam and parking sensor)) and Existing factory till 50k or Nov of 15’ and the CPO boots it up to 100k or Nov of 17’. I worked with the dealer and snaked it for 35.2$ out the door so the deals are out there. The 11’ s got the N55 Single turbo with a few other improvements to the head and fuel system(injectors ect), and has never been back to the shop for anything besides checks and oil changes.

From everything i read they all can get the HPFP issues but its deff way way worse in the 07-09’s. They also have made like 8 revisions of the pump so maybe its finally fixed lol. I love our E92. Car jams, handles , is easy to drive and has all the options we need. Id say up the loot to 35$ and find a N55 fresh off lease. They’re popping up now and covered for another 4 years and 100k so u cant go wrong. GL buddy.

that’s a good way to put it.

S4 is really no comparison to an M3… it’s much more civil and DD’able (the S4). I usually recommend people compare it to the 335i or an M-sport package for the 435i but you’re right. they probably slot it in between on purpose to confuse people

If your looking for performance the n55 is not the way to go imo, I’d rather have an s5 than an n55 x drive coupe. Xdrive is nothing more than a compromise and looks like a 4x4

After doing a decent amount of research im pulling back on this idea

2010 CPO warranty would be up into 2015 a 2011 might push the CPO warranty out long enough how ever it pushes the price out past 30k.

Which pushes me back onto G37x, New WRX, 2 year old STi in current price range.

Other option is wait a bit longer and increase the budget…I was working off the mindset I would grab fun DD and still be able to build an F-body/Mustang on the side which was part of the reason for the budget on the DD.

You could snag a certain Evo X that got traded in at transit Towne. It was a friends and I know all the details and what they gave him for it etc…cars in good shape

You mean the one I have been talking to Paul about
