My brother just traded in this WRX, truly never modded, never beat on, he is a nut about keeping things clean, car is like brand new still, he likes cars but is not into modding things or racing and etc. Actually they bought it off of him when he was thinking about leasing something different. I can tell you what they took it in for if you are interested… pm me for details if so.
Yeah that one haha. Car needs maybe $500 in parts and a tune and it’s mid 300 awhp again. Low 12’s daily isn’t so bad.
I was looking at this earlier also
if you’re seriously looking, I’m trying to sell my M5 still.
if you up the budget look at an E9X M3 CPO…
i still like the G37 idea though. It’s a more mature car than the STI / EVO… obviously not as fast but more comfortable and refined… more of an adult / professional DD.
and you dont even really need a warranty on them…
FUCK YEAAA
Drive a V10 M5 and you will realize its the ULTIMATE DD!!!
Ya! lets buy a car that was 80k+ new thats almost out of warranty with 90k on it…
…that gets 10mpg.
Nfg haha. In all seriousness just drive one you will never look at a wrx again. As far as mpg I’m sure it will get 15-20, what’s a tuned 335 get 20-25?
I have driven a new M5…
It didn’t change my thoughts on buying a high milage one without a warranty. If you asked me the same thing when I was 20 and living at home I might have had other thoughts on it.
How many actual miles have you put on your car since you bought it? I know it spent a massive amount of time in the shop for the clutch, then it was down again for the suspension ordeal.
It’s already on its second set of turbos. The thought of having to replace them without a warranty makes me almost shit my pants.
And you’ve had to dump over $500 in it since you’ve had it (not including suspension parts that you didn’t mention), while driving limited miles. That says a lot right there.
They are sharp cars, and you can get a lot of power out of them, but I wouldn’t touch one without a warranty
I’ve had to put tires on it too, its the cars fault, those shouldn’t ever wear out like clutches and shocks…
Turbos covered under warranty.
So like I said, VANOS solenoid ($110) and transfer case servo motor ($400) and that’s been it.
mike, how many miles have you put on it?
15k. 13k has been on Cobb stage 1 too.
I put 60K hard miles on mine (tuned the whole time) and had not too many issues. The vanos Solenoid, water pump took a crap after a track day, Low pressure fuel pump (not high pressure) and plenty of tires and brakes.
x…
it has worked out for me so far
Just get a G8 and pretend its a BMW?
Unless there is something unique about a car for being a specific model or having some historical value, I have no idea why people would buy something with high mileage. Most people I knew who bought BMW/Mercedes/Audi with such high miles were buying something they couldn’t afford so they tried to save money on the sticker and ended up paying more for repairs than buying something CPO.
Hey guys-
I currently have a 13 mazdaspeed 3 that i love, as well as a 12 Jeep Grand Cherokee (company vehicle/daily). I recently drove a friends 13 335i and was absolutely in love. I’ve been scouring the various BMW forums to try to get up to speed on the BMW world, but figured i would post local to see if anyone had any feedback.
I’ve read that the N54 engines have had some serious issue, but N55 reliability has been much improved. Does anyone own one outside of the warranty period? I’ve heard from a few people they wouldn’t own one outside of their warranty, but i’ve also heard the opposite. I’ve been looking for something CPO, and I’m relatively competent in car maintenance/repair work so i’m not too afraid to do some of my own repairs if they come up.
Any feedback from the F30 owners would be appreciated!
@Digital_jedi I merged your thread into this one since I think it’s relevant and has posts from several guys who have owned them
