Ya its a unique key that is in the processor. There is rumors and some development that is rumored that you can do some sort of timing attack on the cpu and the right kernel to actually change the ID and unban a console. Kinda fizzled out because I think it took days to run and too much work to actually downgrade the system to the correct exploited version.
