I am back to modding Xbox 360s.
The newest firmware and checks is very secure and safe. I have been using it for almost 5 months now playing backups on live.

You wont be banned if you have a Samsung drive and aren’t using non stealth/video sector discs. I was using the old firmware for a long time because all my games were backed up by me and stealth patched. The newest just runs checks on the disc to confirm its backed up correctly 
my 360 should arrive at my house early september, i might be interested in modding it.
just make sure you wash you hand before working on it 
do you fix red ring of death? i need mine done and a friend of mine is having the same problem.
just call MS, they will take care of it, they are taking care of every 360 that has this problem, thats why they extended the warranty to 3 years.
but yeah, how much to have this done on my 360? i wanna be able to play burned shit and still use live
m$ will eventually catch up with this. and just like wit the old xbox… all of the sudden BAM no live
Just a warning. While Microsoft can’t detect the latest firmware TODAY, it doesn’t mean that tomorrow they won’t find a way and ban your console from live. And once it’s banned, it’s perma-banned.
That said, I modded my 2nd one and have been playing on live for a while. That was after console #1 got banned. Luckily I was able to trade my modded but banned console + some burned games for an unmodded/not banned console.
Anybody able to verify which drive is in the Elite system?
I’d be willing to bet the BenQ drive, which there is no hack for yet.
