3d Design Software

I want to “test drive” some 3d design software so i can make a quick rendering of a simple workbench for my garage… figure it would be fun to play with…

Is solidworks the best to go with?

I want to be able to say that this part is 1X1 .125 mild steel tubing and put the pieces together and have it tell me all the angles for the cuts if possible

im bored and feel like playing with something to learn it for my next project that would actualyl require this…

(and yea, i can easily build the bench without this, but there is nothing on TV right now)

It won’t “tell” you persay what angles to cut, but it’ll let you figure them out pretty easialy.

Solidworks is probably one of the easier ones to learn, and very popular in industry. It’s one I’d say go try it out.

It’s got a lot of quirks that I personally don’t like, but I was a Pro/E guy for almost 6 years…

yea, i only have 1 non 90degree angle in teh whole design… so it would be pretty easy to just scribe it during the build to figure it out… but some new software may be fun to play with… downloading SW 09 “eval” now

I used Solidworks in high school and it was fairly simple to learn and use after a few tutorials and basic shapes.
