My friend Marshall: “I have a clunk in my car, can you look at it for me”
Me: “Sure”

weight reduction bro

It’s a '96 Neon. Not a common problem, but about 4 months ago, she told me she had a clunk in the back. Well, I guess 4 months of having a bad clunk, and trying to ignore it, led to this :picard:

What in the fuck caused a strut rod to snap like that? I’ve broken my fair share of coil springs but have never managed to snap a strut rod. That is fucking nuts

My guess is that it seized up from rusting solid, and then a pot hole snapped it off completely, but I will never know for sure!

I had a left rear strut that would actually freeze when it got super cold out in my POS car. It was HORRIBLE over bumps but it was amazing on right turns, the car didn’t even lean at all. It was odd to be going though a hard turn and the car being completly level

this has happend to my winter neon twice, each back strut, mount takes a shit and then blah, quick replacement though, if a strut is preassembled i’ve replaced them in about 3 minutes

ive seen that alot with neons actually

I’ve owned 10 of them, and never had it happen to me.

lol wtf. for a pic
