408 HP, 93 oct. Dave's Evo VIII

Yes. We are not a suby tuner at this point. Just messing with a few to get comfortable…

You have a good point I forgot for a second the Mustangs are ego busters.

^^ Yeah they tend to do that pretty good…

the last mustang dyno i got tuned on was called the “heartbreaker” lol, i put down a whopping 210whp but was trapping 111mph in a 2700 lb car

i still dont see how you evo/dsm guys can run 26psi on pump gas and yet on my honda i wouldnt even think about going over 20psi on 93 even with 8.5:1 compression

Too much honda-tech for you man.
Would be nice to see a back to back this dyno v dynojet to see how the numbers stack up. Im guessing the evo would be around 460 on a dynojet.

care to explain that comment?

Stronger motors :biglaugh: I ran 27 psi on pump gas and was safe as can be!

lol, well if i ran 26psi on my 35r i would be about 600whp, i just meant in general why evo/dsm people run such high boost on pump gas? in general anything over 500whp/20psi i will run race gas

stronger does not mean no detonation, and detonation/afraid of bad pump gas is what i set my limit for

smaller turbos on stockish DSMs also… 20psi on a 16g is not the same as 20psi on a GT35R

Compression has alot to do with it.

Car’s awesome, been in this a few times, it is fast!

Its alot faster now…

whats stock compression for an evo? i am just trying to figure this all out, maybe honda guys are just scared to push it that far on pump gas (although 400whp is doable on pump gas even with a sohc d series)

ive seen/heard of 600whp evo’s on pump gas but just don’t see why/how someone would want to push it that far when some people lose 10whp just by going to a different brand of gas… example using sunoco and going to kwik kill (kwikfill)

this may sound right when it comes to power but dynamic compression also comes into play

8.8:1

Dang, beat me to that one.

useless info everyone already knows.

Ai, then that be the case, Dave owes me another trip to Buffalo to prove this…

that doesnt make much sense

are you saying that evo’s have a better flowing head or that evo’s do?

DSM’s have horrible head flow compared to any DOHC Honda motor. Their ports may be pretty large but that has nothing to do with the overall flow of the head. Stock for stock the 7 bolt head with smaller ports actually outflows the 6 bolt head with the large ports on the intake side.
