i have a 1990 talon TSi and its almost about time for me to start putting everything back onto the motor. many of the components needed to be put back onto the motor are random lines, the turbo and turbo components, the radiator, SMIC and that shit, the stock intake, and other random things im not so sure what they are. now seeing as how im an autobody student i dont know the first thing about motors in these cars let alone any other car.
how hard is it to do this with pretty much no knowledge except with a little help from my teacher and from a couple of other kids in my class who sorta know what their doing.
is there any tips or tricks or anything i should know about doing this?
ummmm. buy the haynes manual from autozone would be your best bet. and follow it step by step, because you sound like you konw nothing. the guys on here will tell you how to do it using terms you probably wouldnt understand, where the manual has pictures to support the directions.
i need a front motor mount and motor mount bolt and the thing it bolts to that comes out from under the motor and connects to the mount and to the radiator support if you have those please PM me
damn. im not really rolling in the money, nor do i have a way to get it from where it is now to somewhere where i can have someone help me work on it. but if i can get both of those 2 things il let you know asap.
btw if you wanna give me that nice shiny turbo and fmic please let me know:rofl:
When I was done with my car, I drove it every single day with no issues. I ran over 2 dozen sub 11 sec runs over 28psi, and I build 10-15psi at the line before I launch it.
I only had to put the car down for a day to change a clutch disc that was beginning to slip at high rpms.
I once made a trip from utica/rome to albany to race at lebanon valley all day. Drove it there, drove it back, with no issues. Ran 11’s all day long. I think thats an incredible feat for a dsm, lol.
When built correctly, they do good . When shitty parts are used and installs are sloppy, they break down. Just like any modded car.
DSMs are not that bad if ALL the maintenance is done before modding. If you start with a healthy car it will behave. Like most things garbage in garbage out.
lol. These cars do break very unusual things. And the funny thing is for me, something will break when you’re NOT beatin the crap out of it. Something stupid will break on your way to work or a funeral or something.
