Im suprising my dad n buying him some rims n tires for drag racing… already have the rims picked out since they will match his summer aluminum wheels.
im making him sell the heavy rally wheels n bfg 235 drag radials
so what to get ?
1 choice Mickey Drag Radials = i got a 1.57 60 foot w/ not as much trq n gear
2 choice m/h race masters Radial lighter n nostalgic
#3 choice ???
the m/h racemnaster drag radials are light but i never heard any feedback
Im proly going with mickeys since they have proven to me to be an awesome tire
hes gonna be suprised !
also should i get him new front shocks ?? 50/50’s its a cruiser n 3-4 times drag car but i want him to hit 11’s this year n 12.16@ 112 mph w/ 1.8 60 foot still has a lil room to get into the 11’s n beat my time
so what front shocks should i get ??
X2, just get some KYB shocks for the chevelle, I have them on mine and it transfers the weight pretty good. No need for that 50/50 & 70/30 shit on a car that will limited action at the track
yeah the front shocks are still spiral stock shocks so im thinking its ok as is !!!
n the rear going from heavy a rally to aluminum centerlines itll make a big difference
235 to 275 = the win
as long as im driving …\
n quik were def removing the front sway bar. I know he got it in it
i had kyb’s in the monte they were a stiff ass shock !! n he has new acdelco’s in the rear w/ traction bars from JJ’s so it should hook just thikning a lil more movement in the front n itll be gold. the best part is he has no clue n hes to afraid to break shit since its mint. but hell ya only live once n sionce i dont have a fast car to race why not race his
no offense but he has a lil more motor than u n itll spin way to easy so he def needs a lil more tire n definately a lighter wheel steel rally < light aluminum
500 ft lbs of torque > 350
my truck runs the same whether it’s a 275, 235, or 11.50 or a steel wheel or aluminum.
yeah the truck does good… but those slicks you ran that one day had half tread and half threads! LOL surprised it ran as good as it did with those winter tires on it
i should have seen a difference between recaps on steel rallys compared to slicks and alum. wheels. due to the weight. i guess i’m just that damn good.
i doubt you see a difference from the wheel, what you gain will be from the better tire.

Which model was this? I’ve never seen a setup domestic using KYBs for AutoX. Even at full still they can’t properly dampen a AutoX spring-rate.
But I have seen lots of people happy w/ the adjustable KYBs for a street/strip car. Generally they go pretty much full-soft up front and mid-stiff in the back. If it’s a car that tends to pull the driver’s side and drop the pass. side hard like Chevelles do they’ll go a bit stiffer on the pass. side rear than driver’s.
