$70,000 Cars You Can Buy For Half Price -- AFTER/DRIVE

On a scale of Honda to 335i how bad is the issue? lol

Honda… it’s pretty rare, but it’s something to talk about so people do. On the vette forums you almost never find somebody who had it, but you’ll find lots of paranoid people upgrading.

I know of a 914 floating around I could have for cheap too…

I think it is more common for guys who actually drive their cars/track them and don’t just take them out to a local cruise night every once and a while. Search “dropped valve” on any of the boards. Also the bad batch of early 07’s that the needle bearings fall down into the motor. Nothing a set of heads won’t take care of for piece of mind and little upgrade at the same time, wouldnt scare me away from the car at all but it would be one of the first things I would do if purchasing one.

I’m on all the boards. It’s a manufacturing defect and it’s very rare and covered if you’re not modified.

The irony is that these cars are so reliable that’s really the only thing to talk about.

My friend had 2 motors replaced on his c6 Z06 under warranty. No track days, one went at 11k the other lasted 6k to 17k, he sold the car after the second motor was replaced.

Anyone else got any input on the LS7 issue? specific years?

Kicking around the idea of a 2007 Z06 vs C6 LS3 and then grabbing a ECS blower.

@theblue @Jeller @9c1ny

twin turbo c6 ls3 did I hear? lol

don’t build it, buy it.

lots of interesting cars for cheaper than you can build:

$33.5 and has 800hp 2007 Corvette 12k miles 800hp Supercharged/heads/cam - CorvetteForum - Chevrolet Corvette Forum Discussion

Building it is more than half the fun to me. Once it’s “done” I usually want to move on to something else.

X…

I have a hard time paying double for something already done. plus built cars rarely come problem free.

Yep

i could go either way on that… if you have the time and know how and the tools yeah build it but i’d be the opposite of that… no time, can’t do anything major myself and no tools or space…

This is in part why I bought the 69 camaro which I will probably sell for something more modern soon. Keep one that is turn key and one that is a build/pain in my ass.

There is a run of 07’s that have issues, search for it and you can find threads that will mention production dates that are more prone. But the $2-3K you can spend on a new set of heads would take care of it, so I wouldnt shy away from a clean car at a good price.
