ok first off i was stranded at the mall. tried to jump it and only worked for two minutes. so the next day i had a brand new alternator put into it and had the battery charged, now heres the problem…after everything was done i took it for a test drive and things didnt seam to work right. All of my interior power and my brake lights were not working, only when i had hit the brake peddle this would happen. so took it to auto zone and they said the alternator was bad, so i exchanged it for a new one and the problem still continued. now the car had died and had it towed but then the next morning the car was fully charged but only started one time. it was competelly dead after that one time. when the key was turned to the ON position there was a clickiing noise up near the throtle body then it would stop. can anyone tell me what my problem might be cuz i really need a car to drive and it sucks that i dont have one right now.
I am not gonna point out the obvious that it is in fact a DSM
So…Check grounds and fuses as it sounds like something is drawing power or not allowing power to flow.
I’m thinking it’s the battery…
Well you keep charging the battery and it keeps dieing. Could be a short or it could be that your battery is old and needs to be replaced. Either way, I’d try the battery and see where that leads you.
<P> try replacing the battery and if it continues then find the problem???
there is a 90amp fuse under the hood for the alternator. Its bolted in with 2 10mm bolts. The fuse is most likely blown because of the bad alternator.
oh wait, nevermind, i re-read your whole post. have your battery load tested at the zone.
its under the hood on the passenger side. Flip open the plastic cover, and you’ll see a black fuse that sits all by itself. you can check the top of the fuse to see if its blown.
Check the condition of the wiring going to the alternator as well. There are 2 fuses you need to look at one is an 80 amp according to the schematic and the other is a 30 amp. Check that your battery connections are clean and tight as well. Merely touching the terminals is not good enough to aid in charging and will cause a large resistance which can damage the alternator.
also the wiring from the alternator runs under the radiator support. Its pretty well exposed to the elements. And make sure that the little seperate black wire for the alternator is tight and secure. Sometimes the stud can back out of it and cause a loose connection. Which is where Im putting my money. Not much, maybe 5 bucks. :biglaugh:
so check all of this and hopefully the problem will go away.if not… fuck the car and get rid of it???
no its front wheel drive and non turbo 2.0 so yea it sucks. why???
because if it was a turbo AWD car id tell you to sell it, cheap.
have you checked any fuses yet? it sounds like you might want to take it to a shop and have it checked out. call up hybrid, and see if they will take a look at it. they know their mitsus…
im doing my investigation in the morning but if i cant find the problem then i just might take it there. how much money am i lookin to put out for this???
ok now the fact that the stores are open i went to m+m you pull it and got that 80amp fusible link and put it in and now the car runs better than ever so thank you for all your help.
Good Job
lol, you can get that fusible link at autozone for 3 bucks. good job tho.
