94 jetta gl

Is the car lowered?
your lug pattern now is a 4x100 lug pattern.

If you do a swap too, your going to go from a 4x100 to a 5x100 lug pattern if you swap axles out which is recommended if your doing a VR or 1.8t swap.

get 195/50/15 tires on corrado steelies… looks great!

iight ill look in to it well i feel like an a$$ now cuz the whole prob might have been low on tranny fluid i wont know till i put some in tomorrow and take it out for a ride

yeah, bang for buck the vr is the way to go. like i said before, couldn’t be happier with mine. ;D

in mk3 it is very straightforward. you can use bigger brakes with the 5 lug swap up front via corrado brakes. though IIRC you need to have the spindles from the donor jetta/ passat machined to match the centerbore of the rotor if you use them. there are nice wheel choices in a 5x100 too. you have the 15" oem bbs off vr6 b3/ b4 passats, 15" “bugatti” bbs off the vr6 mk3 jetta, etc… before dropping in the motor for the swap, do the timing chains. much better doing them out of the car than in. jason can attest to this i’m sure. it wouldn’t hurt to start with a fresh clutch, rear main seal, headgasket, valve cover gasket, water pump, thermostat, etc.

you can pick up a complete donor car for next to nothing, and honestly, that would be the way to go. the mk3 vr6 jetta/ gti would be your best bet because everything will work. you won’t need to mix and match a thing.

do some snooping around on vw vortex. there are plenty of threads outlining the vr swap in a bunch of different chassis.

iight i will do that thanx for the info

cars fixed somethin in the tranny went and i had it replaced friend owed me a favor so its fixed now so i can acctually drive it

Good post, Pete.

Like he said if your going to go forward with a VR6 swap and the motor has high mileage on it, definitely do the timing chain and guides OUT OF THE CAR, it’s way easier. The job is VERY labor intensive.

i know i’m going to have to do my mother’s b4’s chains. its only a matter of time. :sad

ive got some smoked tail lights for a jetta, as well as a brand new in the package neuspeed rear strut bar with all mounting hardware, let me know if your interested !

the car is gone!!! i killed it lol i blew the exhaust right off it and i put my foot threw the floorboard

F the jetta. ON WITH THE JEEP

is that your exaust on altamont ave lol

f*in on with the jeep bigger badder and tons of fun…litterally lol

good to see another dubber on here. as for the run down on what swaps, there is so many. VR,1.8t,TDI,R32. All depending on your budget/skill.

R32 - I dont even know why im mentioning this, its very costly and very hard to do.
1.8t - Also expensive and takes some skill. But the bolt ons for this would be best. Shit any turbo car is a good base to start with.
VR6 - Ive owned a VR, some like it and some dont. I personally just liked it for the sound. VR6’s are not fast like most people make them out to be HOWEVER with some modding they are very good base and you will never hear a better motor w. exhaust at 5krpms  But if you do the swap, personally i would stay with 4lug just for the reason of cheaper parts/sleeper-ish.
2.0 - Many routes you can do. Ive been there with chip/i/h/e etc and its peppy but by no means “FAST”. However even a turbo’d 2.0 isnt “FAST” but is FUN to drive. I believe my buddies supercharged 2.0 said with just the basic supercharger setup he kept up with a stock VR if not beat them. Which is impressive considering 12v vr = 172hp and 2.0 = 115.

So coming from someone who has owned about 50 mk3’s from 8v to VR. Id say turbo/S.C the 2.0 to be different however if you really must have a VR, like everyone says do all maintenance out of the car and stay 4lug (IMO) to keep its routes. Personally i am sticking with the 2.0, if i want a VR i will go buy one or swap a VR into a mk2 where it belongs. Im done, wow long post!

nice info, but, he got rid of the car a month ago, now hes got a jeep

shouldnt this thread be locked seeing as he dosnt even have the car anymore? :wtf
